The Pontiac Torrent has been one of the best vehicles I've ever owned. The build quality is beyond that of what I would consider excellent. I've owned mine since 2009 and made absolutely zero repairs other then general maintenance. We change the oil every 3,000 miles, keep the air filter clean, and the Torrent just keeps going and going with minimal signs of wear. The interior has held up well over the years despite having three kids. Everything still operates properly, including the windows that my kids wore out in less then three years with our old Ford Expedition. I would also like to note I've been utterly most surprised with the build quality. My last Expedition, needed front end parts what seemed like every single year. After 7 years of driving the Torrent and the front end still... (more)
Story
We've used this SUV since day one of purchasing it for everything family related. Every time we go to the park or to Houston we take this vehicle and it has always been a pleasure for me and the family.
Pros
Reliable, high quality parts, sleek interior very comfortable, and gives a very smooth ride
Cons
Could use a little more room compared to other "full size sport utility vehicles."

I love my Pontiac Torrent. I have had it for 2+ years and it has given me no problems. I have had zero mechanical issues besides basic wear and tear. So far I've only replaced brakes and rotors. The interior is comfortable and roomy. The back seat leaves plenty of leg room for tall adults or long legged children. The back seat fits two large car seats and a small third person in the middle seat which is a huge plus for me. The exterior of the car has a nice look to it. The paint has held up beautifully and it is not covered in plastic bumpers or ugly plastic trim. The trunk is roomy as well and I can fit both of my strollers in there without an issue. My torrent has a 5 disc CD player which works great and sounds great. The sun roof and heated seats are an awesome and pleasan... (more)
Story
I drove this car up to a state park in Wilkes Barre recently to have a day out on the lake. We had a really nice time until it started to rain... more like pour! We all had to run back to the cars and ended up standing under the hatch because we were soaked and didn't want to open the doors or sit on the seats. My kids sat in the trunk happily while we waited out the storm.
Pros
Spacious Stylish Comfortable Drives nicely
Cons
Interior is a little noisy on highway

This was my first brand new car I've ever bought, and I think I will do more research next time. It was the first year they made the Pontiac Torrent so I don't think all the kinks were worked out. The body style was very trendy (sporty, smaller SUV) in an apple red color, and that's why I purchased it. The car does have its highlights, such as ample trunk space. However, the brake rotors needed constant resurfacing and the rear wheel bearings needed replacement. I later found this was a fault of the model itself, not just my car. I do think that this car is safe. Thankfully, she's never been in an accident.
Story
I bought a lot of plant bulbs and gardening equipment one time from this big iris event in Fort Worth. I planted them in potting soil and took them over to my boyfriend's. When we broke up, I took them all with me (about 8 pots). I put them in the trunk area and ended up forgetting about them. When I opened my trunk a few weeks later, the flowers were all blooming. I guess there was enough sun... (more)
Pros
- Not very expensive (around $25,000 brand new) - Easy to service. I used to change the oil filter and oil myself. Even though I'm female, this was easy to do. - Goes from 0 mph to 60 mph very quickly. This is great living in a busy city.
Cons
- The battery dies frequently, and no service mechanic has ever been able to tell me what is draining the battery. - Poor turning radius. It is hard to make U-turns on narrower streets. - Have to replace the rotors/brakes more often than average.
