I have had absolutely no problems with my 2005 Scion xA. I purchased it new and followed the dealer suggested maintenance program until I hit 100,000 miles. Other than routine replacement of items such as tires, brakes, etc., the car has had no work done. It now has 200,000 miles on it, mostly highway. The car is still driving well, looks years younger than it is and has held up remarkably on the interior as well. I fully intend to drive this car until it is unable to start and I don't anticipate that happening for another few years.
Story
On the roof, we even transport our three person canoe with no issues thanks to the built in hitch on the front left of the car. I am sure some people laugh at this tiny car hauling such a huge item.
Pros
I love the compactness of the car and the fact that despite that, it can still haul many large items, including my two large hound dogs! It is great on gas and can handle highway or city driving with ease. I feel safe in my car as well. In 2005, I financed about 16,000 for this car and it has certainly been a wonderful investment. When my car does finally breakdown, I plan on buying another Scion because I am so pleased with this car experience.
Cons
The acceleration of the Scion xA was never one of its highlights, and it has worsened a bit with age. I do not speed, so I am fine with its slower speed, however. Obviously, I feel the pros well outweigh the overwhelming pros.

My 2005 Scion xA was the first new car I ever purchased - and what a good purchase it has been. I've had it on the road for 15 years and 150,000 miles and it's still going strong. Rides smooth, fun to drive, great gas mileage, and an exciting look that caught a lot of people's eyes in the early days. Built with Toyota equipment, the car has been very reliable, with only one major mechanical issue (a bad wheel bearing) in the entire time I've had it. I'm sad that Scion is no longer a brand, as with the quality of this vehicle I absolutely would have been a customer for life.
Story
Three friends and I piled into it for a 2,000+ mile road trip to visit theme parks in Ohio. Quite a lot of time to spend together in such a little vehicle, but we had a blast.
Pros
Gas mileage. Great design. Good sound system. Well-built. Spacious. Fun to drive. No major problems.
Cons
Not super powerful. Storage space can be awkward. Wheel bearing issue. Later models had improved fascia. No longer made. Weather stripping easily removed.
