The Forester is the perfect size for me in retirement. It is very reliable and convenient for picking up grandchildren from school and lugging my golf clubs around. The seats are comfortable and I have plenty of head room despite being over 6' in height. The stereo and navigation system work well and I enjoy being able to select music from my iPod on the console. I am getting ~24MPG despite primarily driving in the city. The AWD provides a sense of security in winter driving.
Story
Last summer I had a road trip from Maryland to South Carolina to Florida to Alabama to Georgia and back to Maryland. The car was comfortable and performed well the entire trip, with nearly 28MPG for the trip.
Pros
All wheel drive since I live in a climate that has snow and ice in the winter. I also like the lane drift sensors. It rides quiet and smooth with minimal road noise. It has been very reliable and in three years has not needed anything more than routine maintenance. I bought the advance maintenance package so all my service trips have been covered in full.
Cons
A hill-assist warning light frequently comes on but the dealership says not to worry, that it is an electronic glitch. Occasionally it hesitates when I accelerate from a stop.

The 2010 Subaru Forester is a safe, reliable small SUV. It has so many uses for a family. Mom can run errands, since the cargo area holds plenty of groceries. Dad can go to the home improvement store and stow all of his tools and lawn care purchases in the back. Whether for short excursions or long family road trips, the Forester rides comfortably. Everyone has room to sit and space to stretch out. In any kind of weather, it feels safe on the pavement as well. Rain, snow, ice—it handles them all beautifully. The Forester may be an SUV, but it drives with the control and ease of a car. With impeccable traction from its tires and all-wheel drive, the Forester performs well in all kinds of terrain from hard pavement to gravel roads to muddy paths. It truly will get you where you want to ... (more)
Pros
The Forester is comfortable, reliable, and safe. The seats feel good, even on long rides. The controls are well-placed and simple to use. The rear seats fold down when you need to carry something large or a load of some kind. Subaru is known for its dependable cars, so as long as you take good care of your Forester and perform recommended maintenance, you’ll have no trouble keeping it running for a long time. The safety features—such as all-wheel drive, airbag and anti-lock brakes—make you feel secure while driving in almost any conditions.
Cons
Some people might not like the gas mileage, which is around 24 mpg in city driving and higher in highway conditions. It’s also true that the Forester doesn’t hold as much as a truck would, so if you need to haul big cargo, This is not the vehicle for you. A small complaint is that there are no cup holders in the rear for the passengers. Finally, some people would appreciate more room in the interior, and for them a larger SUV would be a better choice.

They gave me a decent amount of money for my car that I sold to them. They were willing to buy the car that I had at the time for a very good price.

The salesman was nice and polite, and not pushy at all. They had a wide selection of vehicles to choose from, which made shopping for the car more enjoyable. Their facilities were modern and refreshing, and could easily be seen from the road. The dealership was next to an Olive Garden, which was a convenient place to eat after successfully buying my first car!
