2006 Toyota RAV4 - Works if you're just looking for an SUV that can hold a decent amount of storage

I purchased my Toyota RAV4 at a dealership simply because it was the only vehicle that I could afford on their lot. I took it for a test drive (not very far), and purchased the vehicle that same day. I love the large amount of storage in the SUV. There are several compartments in the trunk which can be used as extra storage or even more seats if need be. However, the dealership had failed to mention that the engine had an oil consumption problem. Upon further research I discovered many, many Toyota RAV4s of the same kind were also experiencing engine problems. By my third month of having this vehicle my engine gave out and I had a long uphill battle with the dealership on receiving a new engine.
Story
I once took my SUV down a large hill to a creek at the bottom. We were able to drive in the hard gravel and through the grass. We parked by the creek with a queen-sized mattress in the back and spent the night there while using my vehicle as a shelter, and also a DJ.
Pros
Storage Space - I can load up a queen size mattress with the back seats down. Leg Room - I can fit five adults in my vehicle very safely and comfortably. Trunk Space - The trunk door opens horizontally which opens up a wide area for storage. (Also great for tail gating without needing a truck). A/C Unit - My RAV4 cools off faster than any vehicle I have owned, making the hot summer days a little more bearable.
Cons
Engine - oil consumption should have not caused my vehicle to break down (this includes me changing the oil regularly). Driving - the vehicle is not very sturdy on the road. When I make wide turns it feels as though the car will tip over (more than usual with an SUV). Audio/Surround Sound - The volume on the vehicle does not go up as high as I would like, also the aux cord is inside the glove compartment making it nearly impossible to maneuver while driving.

2008 Toyota RAV4 - Rav 4 is a great car.

I have had a really good experience with my Toyota Rav4 overall. It is almost ten years old, and it is running well. It has not had any major drive train problems or malfunctions. We researched it and chose it for its safety features and the room it had in its interior for storage, etc. We also have the version with a third row seat. My least favorite part of the vehicle has been the Toyota service system. We heard rave reviews about how wonderful they were, but every time we had a slight issue that might be covered by warranty, they found a way to deny it. It was very suspicious The driver's side seat fabric wore in one spot very quickly, and I questioned that but they also refused to fix that. However, it has not progressed, and all seems fine. It still runs like a beauty, and... (more)
Story
We have taken five kids under ten to the beach using the third seat and strategic packing.
Pros
The Toyota Rav 4 has good interior storage in the rear. It has interior that holds up well, and all the bells and whistles seems to work well for years. It drives like a beauty. It has nice visibility.
Cons
The third seat is very small and meant for very small children only. If the third seat is up, the car has no storage at all. Some of the flaps to cover latch belts and other attachment ports are plastic and easily break off.

I had a strict list of demands with regard to the car I wanted, the price I was willing to pay, the options I required and the color desired. Jim Coleman Toyota accommodated all my necessities, and I was able to get most of the paperwork done (and the deal) ahead of time, to save me time at the dealership. I was out of there in about an hour and a half. Done!

The customer service was excellent. I found the car online and called the representative. She took care of everything including having the car transferred to the Gaithersburg location. She called me when the car was ready. I scheduled an appointment to go to the dealership, filled out the paperwork and then drove off with the car. Very seamless process.
