2004 Toyota Camry - Dependable
I grew up in a city where driving is not the norm. As such, I had never really driven until I was 25 and moved to a place where you can't get around without a car. I had a driver's license and would occasionally borrow friends' cars in college, but I had never extensively or regularly driven before. As such, this Toyota Camry is the first car I have ever owned and it was a terrific choice. As someone who doesn't know much about driving or cars, it is dependable, reliable, easy to handle, and easy to park (HUGE for me). There isn't much maintenance required and it gets excellent gas mileage. Though the speakers could be better, this isn't that big of a deal as I should be concentrating on the road anyway!
Story
My partner had to teach me to parallel park using cones in an empty shopping mall parking lot. This wouldn't be that funny except at the time I was 28 years old and most people learn to do this when they are in high school.
Pros
My favorite part of the car is how little it requires from me. My partner owns a car that seems to require constant upkeep, and I just don't know how he manages to keep up with it. It seems to always be in the shop for one reason or another. Beyond putting gas in my car and doing the required oil changes, I have little to no required upkeep for my vehicle.
Cons
I honestly can't think of anything I really dislike; I noted above the speakers could be better, and grime does seem to accumulate in the floor mats, but neither of these are really big deals.
2010 Toyota Camry - Great Starter Car
I was gifted this car on my 16th birthday as my first car to drive. My parents felt that it would be a great car both from a safety point of view, as well as mileage and upkeep costs. I have now had it for just over six years, and have loved driving it. It drives quite smoothly, and I have not had any serious issues with the car during my time of owning it. It is an extremely well built car that I can see myself keeping for another ten years, if needed. The maintenance costs are quite low, and the car seems very well built and will last quite a long time.
Story
I've taken in on a large variety of road trips, probably more than half the mileage on the car is from road trips alone and not daily driving. It is a great car for such adventures as I can get in it with the other friends, toss all of our stuff in the trunk and not feel cramped
Pros
Great gas mileage (25+ mpg). Very safe car, good safety ratings. Lots of space (full size sedan, with large trunk). Makes it easy to move things with rear seats that fold almost flat to give trunk access. Good sound system for a stock system on a car.
Cons
Steering is a bit loose for some peoples tastes, I don't mind it. It will not win any sort of "cool car" awards. 4-cylinder engine can sometimes leave you wanting more when you need a quick pickup.
