2003 Toyota ECHO - Great and fun little commuter car
I own a 2003 Toyota Echo that I bought two years ago. It is a brown, four door model. My favorite characteristics of the car are it's roominess. For a compact car, it actually has a lot of leg and head room. The seats are higher off the floor of the car, so if you're tall like I am, you can still comfortably sit in this car for long periods of time if need be. The amenities are pretty good - AM/FM/CD player with a tape deck, and the stereo sounds really good. The car has AC, and a decent amount of trunk space for a compact. Two people could stow a decent amount of luggage in the trunk if they had too. The car has pretty good acceleration too for a compact. You won't win any drag races, but you can dart through traffic when you have too. The best aspect is the handling. The car grips th... (more)
Story
I've taken three long trips in this car, and I love how I've been able to get more than 500 miles on a tank of gas. You don't know how much of a difference that makes when gasoline is so expensive.
Pros
My favorite features of the car:
1. Roominess - someone who is 6'0-6'1" can sit comfortably in this car.
2. Acceleration - like I said, you won't win any drag races, but you can get through traffic and pass when you have too.
3. Handling - You get a great feel for the road in this baby, especially on turns.
4. Fuel Economy - Simply amazing! Especially with gasoline over four dollars per gallon.
5. Stereo - My car has a factory job. It's decent enough, and it plays tapes too. Very cool when I'm rocking old school!
6. AC - The AC unit does not use take a lot of power from the car, so your ga... (more)
Cons
I can't think of anything really negative, other than the headlights and tail lights seem to burn out quickly. Others who have had this car have said it can leak oil, especially when it gets into high mileage territory, but I haven't noticed this yet.
2003 Toyota ECHO - Great car and very reliable
The Toyota Echo has great styling, lots of head room and has a large trunk. It has lots of storage space within the vehicle and seating is comfortable. I have driven it on many trips across Country and it has never let me down. It has needed few repairs and I have paid very little in the upkeep of the car. It is easy to park and fits in any parking spot. Its fun to drive and drives well in bad weather. At first when looking at this car for purchase I was a little nervous because of how small it was but it handles really well and made me feel safe. Great gas mileage at 43 mpg and a lot of bang for the buck. Sporty inexpensive to purchase new tires and any repairs made were not major. Great car for a family as it fit 4 adults and a Car seat for baby. I love the overall look of the car, t... (more)
Story
Taking a trip from Michigan to NJ we brought back alot of extra stuff left to me by my Mother and I was able to cram it all into the car and was still comfortable.
Pros
Lots of head room and trunk room. Comfortable on long trips and great on mileage. Very reliable car and compact.
Cons
Stereo could have been better and the force of air conditioner could have been better and blown harder. Defrost does not work so well but not a problem with all the other advantages.
