2011 Toyota Yaris - Great car for economical drivers

The 2011 Toyota Yaris is a smart car for economical drivers who want to save on gas and mileage. Easily achieving at least 33 miles to the gallon if not more with highway driving, this car is an excellent purchase for saving money. Comfortable for most passengers, the Yaris is also easy to maintain and care for.
Story
Where I used to work, we would have weekly after-work gatherings at a local restaurant and I would often drive people who didn't have cars or took the commuter train to work, and we always had a good time on these drives. One that was particularly funny was how a friend of mine didn't realize he was sweating out the odor of his lunch, which had been full of garlic, and so I had to use my car's... (more)
Pros
The best features about the Yaris are its fuel efficiency and easy maintenance. Requiring little maintenance when routine checks are performed, the Yaris is great for people who want a car to last them a long time. In terns of fuel efficiency, I only needed to fill up about once a week with a 45 minute commute one-way to work. I was also comfortable on those commutes, which is important when you do not have control over where you work or how you have to get there.
Cons
The two things I would consider as negatives are the size and the location of the dash. Unlike most cars, the dash is to the side (in the center) as opposed to behind and above the steering wheel. It's not so strange once you get used to it, but it makes driving other cars feel strange. The other thing that can be a negative is its size; my spouse is 6'4" and he struggles to feel comfortable in this car, so I would not recommend it for tall/larger people.

The new Toyota Yaris is surprisingly a remarkable little compact car. It's great for those who are on a budget (much like myself), and the performance has thus far been great. What attracted me to the Yaris was the reliability to Toyota cars, and the resell value, which tends to be high. It's maybe on the small side, but it's something that I have grown accustomed to and have grown to love about the car so much. It's roomy enough, but not too big. What I REALLY love about the car, as trivial as it is, is the USB port - not only can I charge my phone, but I can also listen to my music in my car, without having to travel with a bunch of "clunky" CDs. As I stated previously, the car is very affordable for a brand-new college graduate, and I have been able to make the monthly payments with... (more)
Story
Just recently had a fun excursion to Gettysburg.
Pros
This car is incredibly affordable, good on gas, and has been reliable thus far. Plus, it's a Toyotas, and from what I've seen with my friends cars that have had Toyotas, they're extremely reliable. I'm proud to be a new Toyota owner!
Cons
The only thing I don't really like about this car is that it's maybe a little too small, but it's really nothing that I can't handle.

My 2010 Toyota Yaris has fantastic fuel mileage. I get 25 to 28 miles per gallon on the highway, and I get closer to 30 for in-town driving. The ride is smooth and quiet. I have not had to replace any major component of the vehicle. Maintenance for the Yaris has consisted of replacing windshield wipers and regular oil changes. I only have two criticisms of the car. The first criticism concerns the speed of the windshield wipers. The control does not have adequate intermediate speed controls. It either runs very slow or very fast. I have difficulties choosing the right speed during a rainstorm. Secondly, the seal around the hatchback has begun to separate from the body of the car.
Story
I loved being able to take my son and his stroller in the Yaris to parks and other attractions. Before his sister was born, I could easily travel to the Henry Ford Museum and the Greenfield Village with him in tow. We would spend the morning and afternoon looking at the trains inside the museum and riding the train outside around the Greenfield Village.
Pros
The fuel efficiency and the size of the car are my favorite features. I have saved money because of its relatively low fuel use. Also, I find the car is easy to drive because of its small size and compact nature. As a young mother, I have been able to put not only my son and his car seat into the Yaris, but I have also been able to pack a jogging stroller into the hatch (trunk).
Cons
The size can also be a negative aspect of the car if you have two adults and two children in the car. If the Yaris carries my husband, my three-year-old son, my four-month-old daughter, and myself, we feel like sardines in a can. We can still transport some groceries as well, but the ride is a little cramped.
