I adore my Toyota Yaris. It is such a reliable vehicle, gets amazing gas mileage, is comfy, fun to drive, easy to handle, and pretty zippy when the need arises. It is also a unique, cute car for driving around town. Very easy to handle, and hugs corners well. Another bonus, the A/C works great, as does my iPod jack, which is a lifesaver when I was stuck in L.A. Traffic. Plus, it hasn't needed any major automotive work since the day I drove it off the lot. Overall, this car is fantastic. We've taken it cross country a few times, haul all kinds of impossibly big things in it, and it has never let us down.
Story
A few years ago we found an old, very heavy cast iron tub online. It was local pickup only, but I thought that the Yaris would be up to the hauling challenge. The look on the guy's face when we pulled up was hilarious, and he said that it may be easier to get our little car in the bathtub rather than trying to do things the other way around! Well, much to his surprise, the bathtub fit (after f... (more)
Pros
It is great for gas mileage, has never needed any major work done, is reliable, zippy, fun, and an overall great car. It also has an amazing amount of trunk space, especially once the seats are folded. We have managed to haul 8 foot pieces of lumber, hot water heaters, bathtubs, and all sorts of hefty items that don't look like they would fit. Plus, I drove with 4 friends about 2 hours away, and no one complained about feeling squished or uncomfortable. Bonus -- there are cup holders and hidden glove box style spaces everywhere. 4 Spots for bottled water, 3 cup holders, two in dash storage... (more)
Cons
It is definitely not a car for someone who is looking to haul around more than 5 people, and there is a little more road noise than some other cars. There were also a few factory recalls that had to be fixed, but nothing too major.

2011 Toyota Yaris - Great car for economical drivers

The 2011 Toyota Yaris is a smart car for economical drivers who want to save on gas and mileage. Easily achieving at least 33 miles to the gallon if not more with highway driving, this car is an excellent purchase for saving money. Comfortable for most passengers, the Yaris is also easy to maintain and care for.
Story
Where I used to work, we would have weekly after-work gatherings at a local restaurant and I would often drive people who didn't have cars or took the commuter train to work, and we always had a good time on these drives. One that was particularly funny was how a friend of mine didn't realize he was sweating out the odor of his lunch, which had been full of garlic, and so I had to use my car's... (more)
Pros
The best features about the Yaris are its fuel efficiency and easy maintenance. Requiring little maintenance when routine checks are performed, the Yaris is great for people who want a car to last them a long time. In terns of fuel efficiency, I only needed to fill up about once a week with a 45 minute commute one-way to work. I was also comfortable on those commutes, which is important when you do not have control over where you work or how you have to get there.
Cons
The two things I would consider as negatives are the size and the location of the dash. Unlike most cars, the dash is to the side (in the center) as opposed to behind and above the steering wheel. It's not so strange once you get used to it, but it makes driving other cars feel strange. The other thing that can be a negative is its size; my spouse is 6'4" and he struggles to feel comfortable in this car, so I would not recommend it for tall/larger people.

The new Toyota Yaris is surprisingly a remarkable little compact car. It's great for those who are on a budget (much like myself), and the performance has thus far been great. What attracted me to the Yaris was the reliability to Toyota cars, and the resell value, which tends to be high. It's maybe on the small side, but it's something that I have grown accustomed to and have grown to love about the car so much. It's roomy enough, but not too big. What I REALLY love about the car, as trivial as it is, is the USB port - not only can I charge my phone, but I can also listen to my music in my car, without having to travel with a bunch of "clunky" CDs. As I stated previously, the car is very affordable for a brand-new college graduate, and I have been able to make the monthly payments with... (more)
Story
Just recently had a fun excursion to Gettysburg.
Pros
This car is incredibly affordable, good on gas, and has been reliable thus far. Plus, it's a Toyotas, and from what I've seen with my friends cars that have had Toyotas, they're extremely reliable. I'm proud to be a new Toyota owner!
Cons
The only thing I don't really like about this car is that it's maybe a little too small, but it's really nothing that I can't handle.
