A solid, reliable vehicle.
The car gets great gas mileage even after having been driven for 200,000 miles. It gets me where I have to go, which is all I want it for. I purchased it used, and I've had to make minimal repairs. There have been a few mechanical failures, but these seem to be common among cars from Toyota during this manufacturing period. Overall, I would look to purchase a new(er) Corolla when the time came to finally take my current Corolla off the road.

Basic but reliable.
We bought this car in 2009. I've never had any major, unexpected issues with it. I’ve had to replace the battery once and the tires and windshield wipers at regular intervals, but that’s it. As long as you do regular maintenance twice a year, you should be fine. I'm rapidly approaching 200,000 miles on this car and it's still going strong. I'd consider this a good option for anyone looking for a first car. The biggest con is that there’s quite a bit of cosmetic damage. Something was wrong with the paint they used on this year’s model. It’s oxidizing or something so looks faded and patchy (I’ve seen the same issue on other gray Corollas from the same year so I know it’s not just mine). There’s a lot of plastic pieces stuck around the outside that are just begging to come off. Once while pulling out of a snowy parking space, the snow stripped one of the pieces off the right side. Other parts have fallen off without any known provocation. However, since these are all superficial issues, I still consider this to be a good basic car. There’s no bells and whistles (I’m still using a tape adapter to listen to music) (I suppose you could count the sun roof, but I forget it's there most of the time), but this car has been good to me.

This is one of the best cars I have ever had. I obtained the vehicle when it was approximately 20 years old, and it still runs well. Keeping up with everyday maintenance such as oil changes and tune ups has proved my vehicle well. Although I cannot attest to the quality of this vehicle when it was brand new, I will absolutely be purchasing a Toyota as my next vehicle based on my experience. If a vehicle over 20 years old runs as well as it does, I cannot wait to see how a much younger Toyota runs. The paint on the vehicle is not of the highest quality. It is peeling on the hood, trunk, and roof. This vehicle also has a sunroof, which never leaks. The air conditioner does not work, but the heat works well. The interior is in great condition considering it's age. The speedometer is off 5 MPH, making it appear that I am going faster than I am. The gas gauge still works perfectly. Only general wear and tear repairs have had to be made on this vehicle since I obtained it.
