Corolla is a good, used car, especially for those looking for a comfortable, fuel-efficient, and reliable daily driver. The Corolla's main appeal is its exceptional, predicted reliability score. Its cabin is fine but not as upscale as those in some competitors, and its performance is adequate though not particularly engaging. Its comfortable ride makes it great for daily commuting. Its only available engine is a four-cylinder that has mediocre power. A manual transmission is standard; an automatic and a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) are available. The CVT makes the best use of the engine's power while delivering the best fuel economy. Models equipped with the CVT get up to 29 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway, which is good for the class (the LE Eco trim bu... (more)
Story
Long ride with my family for the first time is very fun and comfortable. Since we bought our Corolla in May 2015, we have been through ice and mud. While SUVs and trucks were getting stuck, the Corolla carried us home safely. It is super comfortable for the front and back seats. Love that I can stream music via Bluetooth and take phone calls. Right now we are getting 30.2 mpg city. If I could ... (more)
Pros
Impressive fuel economy, user-friendly controls, generous standard equipment, pleasant ride, excellent predicted reliability score, straightforward tech features, top-tier reliability rating, and intuitive interior features. I love my new Corolla LE. It is quieter than the previous version Corolla and other car in its class that I rented (I usually rent cars for three days to compare them before buying one). Right now, I am getting 37 mpg combined. Interior is nice, especially the dashboard, with easy to control radio and temperature. The available reverse camera is very helpful.
Cons
Modest acceleration, indifferent handling -- yes it has clumsy handling, and L trim's outdated four-speed automatic transmission. Numb steering and it's a completely uncomfortable car in the front seats. You feel like you are pushed from the sided due to the sharp curves of the seats, meaning tiny shoulder room and no lumbar support at all. Its an average car for the price, but the Civic or Elantra kills it with distance. The 2015 Corolla is very weak and rough, not smooth as I'm used to from a Toyota car. VT transmission is not close to Nissan and power is somewhat okay.

2009 Toyota Corolla - One of the best decisions I have ever made.

When my old car kicked the bucket, I asked all the ex-mechanics at work which car they would enjoy fixing if they absolutely had to. Their responses were all the same: "Toyota Corolla, the older the better." They had many reasons but the ones that really got me were the overall reliability and ease of obtaining repair parts. I went down to the dealership to test drive one and check it out under the hood. I was very impressed by the nearly silent engine, among other things, so I bought a 2009 Corolla LE with a loan obtained from my bank that same day.
Story
There is another person in town with the same car as mine, down to the color and model year. I would see them in traffic every so often and before too long I realized that it was always the same driver. One day, I was finally next to my car's twin at a red light, so I rolled down my passenger side window and motioned to the driver that they should roll theirs down too. She did, at which point ... Pros
My favorite features are the factory original teal paint and the digital MPG read out, but that's not why I chose this vehicle. When I looked under the hood, the first thing that struck me was how roomy the engine compartment was. I felt like if I wanted to, I could sit on the edge of the engine compartment above the radiator and dangle my legs freely about the inside whilst leisurely changing spark plugs or topping off fluids. I was able to reach through the various engine components, from the front all the way to the firewall without having to take apart a single piece. When I checked ou... (more)
Cons
There aren't very many bad things about this car, but if I had to complain about anything I'd have to say that it is impossible to set the dashboard clock. I've tried every button I could think of and that bad boy is still set to the wrong time and probably always will be. Also, I'm not a huge fan of the beige interior, that is WAY too easy to stain, I put on seat covers, but they only work so well against potential damage. There's also a little storage compartment to the left of the steering wheel which is absolutely useless as the latch to hold it shut is very flimsy.
