2009 Toyota Yaris - Great gas mileage, but it comes with a few problems.
My Toyota Yaris is a 3 door hatchback in blue color. It is a stick shift and the interior is dark and the seats are cloth. It came with a CD player/FM radio and USB port. Other than that, it is a pretty basic car without barely any bells and whistles, but it is very reliable car, which I like. I love that it has fantastic gas mileage. That is my favorite thing. I also like that it's small enough that I can get around easily and I love that I can whip my car in and out of traffic with ease. The same goes with parking; it's very easy. The only two times it has broken down is when the alternator went out and another time when the transmission and brakes needed replacing. Considering the fact that I have had this car for 9 years, I would say that's pretty impressive for such a budget vehic... (more)

Considering the fact that I have had this car for 9 years, I would say that's pretty impressive for such a budget vehicle. That doesn't mean it doesn't come without smaller problems though. I have had issues with the air conditioner, which can be quite a nuisance living in Florida. The A/C is tied to the clutch and I have already had to replace the clutch one time, which fixed it completely. Unfortunately, 3 years later, it is starting to give me problems again. This, I do not like. Another thing I do not like about the car is the noise; when I drive it, it's very noisy with a lot of vibrations. There have been several safety recalls in the past few years, which has been pretty annoying. For the most part though, I have been mostly satisfied with this car, considering I only had to pay around $11,000 for it at the time. Would I want to purchase another one? Probably not. Would I recommend it to someone with a low budget in need of a reliable car? Yes, definitely!
We loved taking road trips to St. Augustine Beach, FL with my husband and dog (a mini dachshund named Lily) in this car. It is some of my best memories. We always made sure we stocked up on lots of candy and soda for the road, which hyped us up quite a bit. We always stopped by Dairy Queen to get ice cream and bought our dog a "puppy cup" of ice cream, which always made her so excited. I look ... (more)

The best part is the great gas mileage. I can get around 30 gallons in the city and about 36-37 gallons on the highway. Gas is expensive these days, so this allows me to save money, which I absolutely love. I also love how easy the car drives. It is small enough that I can get in and out of places with such ease. I really love how reliable it is. The fact that I have had only two instances when it wouldn't work is pretty impressive for such a budget vehicle. I love the hatchback, because it fits with my lifestyle. I can lay the back seat down and it gives me plenty of room to pack grocerie... (more)

The biggest Con would be the problems I have had with the air conditioner. It has died on me several times and I have had to have it fixed. It also does not blow air very strong, which is annoying for someone who lives in sunny Florida. I dislike that the car is noisy and vibrates a lot when I drive it. I wish that the CD player/FM radio had come with an auxiliary port, so I could plug an auxiliary cable into my phone to play music directly from my phone. My last car came with one and I was disappointed that this car did not have one. The last thing I do not like about this car is its size... (more)

The last thing I do not like about this car is its size, which I like that it makes it easy to drive, on the other side of the coin, it also makes it very dangerous. If I were to hit a large vehicle or a pole or God forbid, a semi-truck, I would probably not survive.
2009 Toyota Yaris - Nice, compact, great gas mileage
This is a great car to have a starter car. I got mine for college use and to get me to and from my job. It is surprisingly great on gas mileage and can maneuver greatly on dense city roads. It also is rather spacious for being such a small car I was able to move my entire apartment in a few loads. A great feature is that the hatch floor has a dirt proof/ scratch proof flip over floor so that the carpet does not get to messed up if you go out and get dirty. Some of the disadvantages are that if you are a car nerd like me, this car doesn't offer a lot of room for expansion. Another issue is the car overall is a low end model and doesn't have a lot of the bonuses of most cars such as power doors and windows. Also this particular year has a lot parts that are not common with the other mode... (more)

In the end though, this car serves its purpose and shines in most aspects, I have never had a real problem with this car at all.
I used this car in the winter with no studs or chains to get up to the mountain to go snowboarding. This little car is quiet the beast in terms of traction and never really spun out or slipped. It is a worthy winter warrior.

This car is nice and small which is great of the city. It also is amazing with gas mileage, I hardly ever have to pay for gas compared to most cars. As I mentioned before as well, the interior is actually very big and can fit a lot of things if needed.

The biggest con is that it is a entry level car and does not have a lot of features you would expect in a modern car such as power locks and windows. Another con is that there is no real performance to the engine, granted its not design to be a sports car. Lastly, this particular year does not offer a lot in terms of upgrades if your interested in 3rd party upgrades.
