Before owning this 2012, 4-door Toyota Yaris, I owned a 2008 2-door Yaris. I have very little complaints regarding either one. I currently have 45,000 miles on my 2012 and have not had any complications with the engine, noises, A/C... nothing. The interior of the car would be the only thing to complain about. The seats are fabric and light grey, which show spots or stains readily and easily. Accessibility into the car is simple, with an electronic key with alarm capabilities. Before becoming a Toyota owner I had a 1998 Jeep Cherokee, and while the interior was nice in comparison to my Yaris it doesn't come close in comparing to the amount of money I save on upkeep and gas expenses. I have driven my Yaris across country two times and was pretty happy with the experience. The back... (more)
Story
I live close to the beach and it's really nice to have such a small car because I can get in and out of small spaces very easily! And fit into spaces that most cars can't.
Pros
AUX capabilities, GREAT fuel economy. One of my favorite features of this vehicle is the ability to put all three of the back seats flat... or only one of them if I want. This allows for more space if I need to transport larger objects. Surprisingly, my little car can carry more and also weird shaped objects better than normal sedans.
Cons
The interior seats. They need to make all of the seats dark fabric or upgrade to leather. The windshield wiper. Yes, I said wiper, singular. There is one large wiper connected to the front windshield and it seems to always make my car dirtier than before I started. It blurs the visibility sometimes and it seems like it is made of poor quality materials.

After 3 years of ownership I have been very pleased with my Toyota Yaris. It gets used four days a week for a 100 mile roundtrip commute, as well as many road trips and weekend trips. It gets decent gas mileage (around 30 miles per gallon) and has had zero issues despite us putting over 100,000 miles on it in three years. With regular maintenance and care, this car will be a very reliable purchase, despite it being pretty bare bones. It is certainly small but it does fit four people comfortably and works well for road trips with friends with weekender bags and a cooler.
Story
Once I was blasting music in this car on the freeway and after a minute I noticed a group of teens filming me and singing along.
Pros
My favorite thing about my Toyota Yaris is its reliability. I have been pleasantly surprised at how few issues we've had with it over its three year time with us and we have put many miles on it. I like that it is very utilitarian and small sized, which is convenient for city living and small spaces. It does surprisingly well in the winter with studded tires and sand bags, despite our harsh winters. I like the interior, it has large windows and I feel like I have great visibility in all directions, and the blind spots are minimal. Overall it handles and drives perfectly adequately. You alm... Cons
The Yaris is not terribly punchy with its small engine, so it doesn't have the powerful feeling that some like. I don't mind this too much but some people like a bit more horsepower when passing or going uphill. Another inconvenience is that the USB and headphone jack are located on the left side of the glove box. The inputs are hard to find and very difficult to navigate even as a passenger.
