2012 Toyota Yaris Owner Ratings & Reviews

2012 Toyota Yaris - Reliable, fuel efficient car
Before owning this 2012, 4-door Toyota Yaris, I owned a 2008 2-door Yaris. I have very little complaints regarding either one. I currently have 45,000 miles on my 2012 and have not had any complications with the engine, noises, A/C... nothing. The interior of the car would be the only thing to complain about. The seats are fabric and light grey, which show spots or stains readily and easily. Accessibility into the car is simple, with an electronic key with alarm capabilities.
Before becoming a Toyota owner I had a 1998 Jeep Cherokee, and while the interior was nice in comparison to my Yaris it doesn't come close in comparing to the amount of money I save on upkeep and gas expenses. I have driven my Yaris across country two times and was pretty happy with the experience. The back... (more)
Story
I live close to the beach and it's really nice to have such a small car because I can get in and out of small spaces very easily! And fit into spaces that most cars can't.
Pros
AUX capabilities, GREAT fuel economy. One of my favorite features of this vehicle is the ability to put all three of the back seats flat... or only one of them if I want. This allows for more space if I need to transport larger objects. Surprisingly, my little car can carry more and also weird shaped objects better than normal sedans.
Cons
The interior seats. They need to make all of the seats dark fabric or upgrade to leather.
The windshield wiper. Yes, I said wiper, singular. There is one large wiper connected to the front windshield and it seems to always make my car dirtier than before I started. It blurs the visibility sometimes and it seems like it is made of poor quality materials.
2012 Toyota Yaris - Extremely reliable
Over the years of ownership (over five in total), I have been very pleased with the purchase and this vehicle. It has held up well and is extremely reliable. During these years, I have not have to perform any maintenance on the car other than normal wear-and-tear such as oil changes and brakes. It is nice to have such trust and peace of mind because of your personal vehicle. The gas mileage is wonderful, especially on long trips. There have been weekend drives where I expected to fill up numerous times, but only filled up once! It's small size is a little uncomfortable at times, especially during inclement weather, but the positives of the vehicle outweigh the negatives. What more could I ask for?
Story
This was my first "adult" car purchase, and I couldn't ask for more. It has been reliable and fun, so I will always be grateful for my Yaris.
Pros
The gas mileage has been outstanding, and has saved me plenty of money, especially during the years during which I commuted to work (about an hour each way). It is extremely reliable, and I have no had to worry about any mechanical repairs. I take it in for an oil change and never have to worry about other issues. It is a fun, little car.
Cons
I like in Northeast Ohio, with wind and snow a staple of the winter months. Due to the car's small size (which helps with gas mileage, I'm sure), this inclement weather can be difficult to navigate. It easily gets stuck in snow and slides around because of its size and weight. Also, on gusty days, it feels like it might get blown right off of the highway. These kinds of drives can be really terrifying. But the positives outweigh these factors.
