Great Little Car!
I am a loyal Toyota customer and after my Toyota Corolla started approaching 200,000 miles I decided to get a new car and never really thought of getting another brand. However when I went to the dealership I decided that I could get a new Yaris for about the price of a used Corolla; I have not regretted my decision at all. I purchased the 4 door hatchback model. It has lots more room in the back than you would think, I keep ALL of my camping gear in the hatch! Seats 4 people very comfortably and my 6’5” boyfriend can actually drive it fairly comfortably. I love the look of this car both inside and out - all of the controls are easy to reach and simple...good-sized control knobs. The stereo system is very good -braking is excellent. The driver's seat is extremely comfortable; I don’t feel like I sit really low like I did in my Corolla. I love that instead of 2 windshield equal size wipers I get 1 huge one and a small one on the passenger side, which is pretty cool! I had friends try to convince me of the comparable Mazda, but did not feel it had enough room in the front because of the way the shift console was built. I love my Yaris.

Slow but economical
I didn't really expect much other than good miles per gallon from the Toyota Yaris when I got it. The truth is, there really isn't anything more to it than the good mpgs. The acceleration is incredibly slow and it isn't that fun of a car to drive. The interior is very basic and it isn't luxurious at all to drive. This car is as close as you can get to the Toyota Prius without actually owning a Prius. It isn't the nicest looking car, so it doesn't really turn heads. Unless you like to drive like a grandma, this is most likely not the car for you. The acceleration is probably 0-60 in 15 seconds and it isn't really a car you can pass people in. For a commuter in the city it isn't to bad, but once you hit the highway, you really start to want much more acceleration than what it comes equipped with. It is quite a reliable car though. I have yet to have to go into the shop with it as there haven't been any problems whatsoever with it. The wheels on the base model are not very nice and I replaced the wheels.
