Our 2013 Toyota Rav4 XLE has been very dependable in the 28 months and 50,000 miles that we have owned it. It has been awesome as a commuter car, around town and also for taking vacations. For an SUV, the gas mileage is quite good. For everyday driving, we average about 29.2 miles per gallon. Some of this is highway driving but some of it is around town as well. The gas mileage will start decreasing when highway speeds are achieved, which can be 70 mph or even more in west Texas, but if you are driving 60 to 65 mph, you can get mileage in the low 30s or sometimes up to 40 mpg. The sound system is quite good, especially when hooking up a Beats audio phone to Bluetooth. You can also hook up an iPod directly and it will charge USB devices. The comfort is adequate but can get a li... (more)
Story
I think one of the best trips we took in the RAV4 was with my parents. We drove a couple of hours to Louisiana to stay at a casino. I could stream Frank Sinatra over the Bluetooth so I didn't have to worry about changing stations and finding something that they liked. The trip seemed shorter since we had music and there was room for baggage and we got good gas mileage.
Pros
I suppose Bluetooth is one of my favorite features, an iPhone with Pandora will actually start playing on its own as soon as the car connects to the phone again. I like the gas mileage and the ECO mode. If you need some extra power or want to crank up the A/C a little more, you can turn off the ECO mode or use Turbo to get some more power still. Storage is pretty good and groceries can be restrained with the netting in the rear of the vehicle. You can also close the retractable cover so that the items in the rear of the vehicle are covered.
Cons
Since it's a 4 cylinder car, even with Turbo power can be lacking at times. There is only so much that can be done with a 4 cylinder car but everything is a trade-off. I don't like the maintenance light that goes on whenever you hit certain mileage milestones. I suppose some people need it but there should be a way to disable it. It kind of steers you toward the dealership but there are other places to get your oil changed. I think comfort should be better. The sides of the seat push my shoulders forward and I don't need that. I use something to support my upper back to compensate.

The RAV4 is a great small size. It gets Great Mileage, over 25mpg in the City. The XLE trim is equipped with a moon roof, cool. The RAV4 has great build quality as expected from Toyota. This is an AWD SUV. I have never been stuck in this car. I love the seats as they are very supportive. Great high tech features like touch screen Radio and controls. Ride height is nice, not too short not too tall.
Story
I have been to Colorado and down to Florida in this car and it is very comfortable in long journeys.
Pros
Great small size with large cargo capacity. Very smooth ride for a 4 Wheel drive vehicle. You get a lot of car for the money, around 28,000 dollars. Uses synthetic oil which cuts down on the oil change frequency.
Cons
The RAV does have a few Rattles from time to time. The colors offered were not that great - I would like to see more color choices in the future. Only has a 4cyl engine, would be nice to have turbo 4cyl for more power.
