Colorado Springs, CO Driving Tips
Be kind! Use blinkers and pay attention to road signs. As lanes are ending do not be the jerk who speeds to get two cars closer to the front of the line. Take time to look around you, pay attention to the scenery. There's no reason to be in such a hurry. Life is so much more important than being late, or not getting to where you need to be a few minutes quicker. There are a lot of accidents in this town, there are not very many major roads, there's no reason for them. If we all just take a little bit of time to think of life and the lives of those around us, so many of those can be avoided.

AWD or 4X4 will be the way to go. There are hills and we have snow. It will make the drive much easier if you have something that can handle those types of conditions. I do not have this, and I regret it! There are a lot of dealerships in town, motor city on the south end, auto mall loop on the north end. Those are two great places to get a good view of different car makes. Subaru is the state car for CO, so you can never go wrong with one of those.
Favorite driving memory
The best moment of driving in this city happened early in the morning. There were not very many cars on the road, so there weren't many people to irritate one another. The sun was rising over the mountains making for a wonderful view. This time is always preferable for me because I can avoid the drivers who make me feel crazy and I can avoid the bikers who want to be treated as cars on the road even though they cannot go as fast. The morning is calm and beautiful and courteous.
Favorite road
Highway 83 between Parker and Colorado Springs. The road is not crowded. It has a lot of land surrounding it, not a bunch of buildings. It is a 2-lane highway, so there is difficulty passing when needed, but I never feel like I am in hurry on that road. I like to look at the homes along the way, homes with land and animals. I imagine which of the homes I would most like to have as my own someday. I have a tendency to get lost in my thoughts and the calming of the road as I drive. Not nearly as many worries or stressors as driving the same route on I25.

I would recommend that you travel using Constitution, Powers, and Platte Avenue when possible, as the roads are straight, easy to navigate, and recently repaved in many areas. Academy is a road that offers many stores and restaurants but can be very busy. It's best to avoid Academy during peak driving hours, unless you are a patient driver.
Colorado Springs, CO Buying Tips
There is a large number of car dealers in Colorado Springs. You have a variety of dealers that sell used or new cars for people with varied budgets. I usually have a very limited budget. So, my favorite way to shop for cars is using Craig's list or classified adds in The Colorado Gazette. As long as you do a little research on what you are looking for you can find many kinds of vehicles that match what you are looking for in a car.
Favorite driving memory
I love the view of Pike's Peak when there is still snow on the beautiful mountain. One of my favorite driving experiences happened on a crisp day. The sun was shining. The sky was a fascinating cloudless blue. I was driving toward the Peak and could see the city below me and the Peak above capped with snow. The sight was so open and awe inspiring. It was a quick trip, and on the way home the weather conditions were still gorgeous. As I was driving back up the road to my house, I looked in my side view mirror and saw the city and the Peak again. This time from a unique but still amazing view. It made me smile to be enjoying such a thrilling view from my car.
Favorite road
Constitution Avenue. Constitution Avenue starts on the East side of the Springs and travels almost to the very end of the West side of the Springs. The road gives you opportunities for amazing views in many different places. My favorite stretch of the road is where it begins on the East side, heading West. You get amazing views of the city and Pike's Peak, and the East side of Constitution gives you the opportunity to easily reach grocery stores, chain stores, pharmacies, and great shopping & dining options.
