2001 Dodge Durango - Reliable Vehicle, she just keeps going
The 2001 Dodge Durango is a good car. Some might call it a truck or an SUV, but I don't think it's suitable to call it those things. This vehicle was a hand-me-down from my grandparents. I saw it as grandpa vehicle, but it is honestly much more than that. I've traveled many miles in the Durango and spent many a nights sleeping in her during camping. This car keeps going and going. approaching 150,000 miles on the car and it just keeps 'trucking' along. I would recommend this car to many people, if only as a means to do things and if it fits their lifestyle. I don't drive a lot, but when I do I want a car that can be versatile and go places. This car can go places. The gas mileage may not be great, but once you are where you are going, the car is great. It does exactly what i... (more)

2005 Dodge Durango - It gets the job done.
Overall it has been a great vehicle. I have had a problem with the fuel pump, but it looks like it's pretty much an isolated case. It has a lot of power, so there isn't a problem passing cars up the mountain. The Limited package had a lot of nice features, heated seats, temp. Control for both sides, rear controls, DVD entertainment.
Plenty of room to haul sporting equipment around. And the 3rd row seating, was much appreciated with my kids friends.
Story
My kids and I have a had a lot of road trips in it.
One time heading up to Red Rocks to see "Hangover" at Film on the Rocks, my friends pregnant wife drove 6 of us up while we drank beer and watch the "Hangover' on the DVD player.
Pros
Rugged looking.
The 5.7 Hemi is really powerful so it can pass cars up the mountain with ease.
It can haul a big load.
3Rd row is great with kids friends.
Nice stereo and speakers.
3Rd row easy to put up and down.
Stereo controls on the steering wheel.
Looks more masculine than other SUV's.
Cons
Gas mileage is poor, I get around 13mpg
Fuel pump has gone out a couple times.
Kind of suspect reliability.
Some cheap plastic parts, that have started to break.
Very little leg room in the 2nd row.
I have seen a lot of Durango's with the front air spoiler busted up and broken, my broke about 3 month after getting the vehicle.
