I bought this car on Craigslist for about 4,000 dollars. I never had any problems with its function. It was showing its age with rust on the left rear quarter panel, but it ran fine. The heat and A/C worked perfectly, no weird noises from the engine. It drove well and comfortably held my stuff as I commuted to class. I bought mine after hearing good reviews from friends who had learned to drive in the family CRV, and it was worth every penny. I drove it back and forth to college for a while, around town running errands, you name it. There's a reason you still see a lot of older CRVs. They're basically tanks.
Story
After moving out of my apartment, I packed everything I owned into my then-new-to-me CRV and drove to my parents' house. All the stuff I'd accumulated in two years of apartment living fit in the car, though I couldn't have taken a passenger. It was a gorgeous summer night, and I'll be honest: being able to pack up my whole life and move made me feel like a real adult instead of a college student.
Pros
I don't know word one about fixing cars. This car ran fine and did everything I needed from it. I liked having a tape player because I still have cassette tapes I enjoy listening to, and they do sell connector cables to let you use an aux cable via the tape drive. CRVs have a seriously impressive amount of storage space, and if you're young and single, yes, you can fit basically everything you own in one. This is what I'd call a small SUV, so it doesn't drive like a little sedan but doesn't suffer from the laggy nature of a really big car. Good visibility around the car, and the back windo... (more)
Cons
This model is not a new car. You're not going to get an aux cord, GPS, rearview camera, lane keeping assist, or anything you'd expect from a 2019 model car. The gas mileage isn't terrific -- better than a Hummer but worse than a Prius. If your previous vehicle was small, you'll need some time to adjust. You'll be at risk for the usual used-car pitfalls with previous owners treating the car poorly. CRVs are neither small nor sporty, and if you're looking for a cool-looking ride, it's not the car for you.

I absolutely love my Honda CRV. It's the perfect vehicle for driving to work on a day to day basis or bringing me to weekend activities. The thing handles like a champ climbing snowy mountains or dirty farm roads. Seriously, the 4 wheel drive is perfect. With the attached sport utility roof, I can easily throw on my snowboard or mountain bike and head off. The miles per gallon is tough to beat too. I also love the full view one has with such large and open windows. My first car was a 1998 CRV and I loved it about that vehicle as well. Being able to see around you fully as a new driver is definitely needed, but even as an experienced driver it's still helpful when merging on the freeway or a busy cross street in the city. My 1998 vehicle held up well and I expect this one to last just a... (more)
Story
I drove my vehicle with me to a musical festival. It worked great in storing all of my tent equipment and food for the weekend.
Pros
Good miles per gallon Good views with large windows Safe Four wheel drive is great
Cons
Somewhat feminine of a vehicle

They answered all of my questions and didn't pressure me into buying anything. A salesman was waiting and ready when i needed them, but didn't seem overly pushy about the cars. Once I decided on the car that I wanted, a salesman stayed with me the entire time until all of the paperwork was completed.
