2006 Subaru Forester - Great car for all weather
This car is one of the best cars I've ever driven in the snow or the mountains. Even in the iciest or blizzard like conditions, it won't budge. This is one tough vehicle. Even after ten years, there have only been a couple of big fixes on the car, the head gaskets were replaced, but that happens with all older Subarus. This car also can handle off-roading like a champ. I take it to the mountains all the time! I have a feeling I'm going to be driving this car for a while longer.
Story
Driving in the snow in the mountains on the way to skiing was great! The car handled very well in the snow and was a blast to drive.
Pros
This car is very reliable. I've never had any major issues, even after 160,000 miles. This car also does very well at high altitudes when driving in the mountains, not sputtering or stalling while climbing at all. The trunk is very roomy, fitting a large dog crate easily. The back seats also fold down, making for more room if needed.
Cons
I have had to make a few belt replacements and fix some leaks, but that is what comes with owning an older car. The window and door seals do leak, leading to very loud wind noise at high speeds, so those will need to be replaced as well. The back seat isn't very roomy for people with longer legs.
2015 Subaru Forester - Great Value
This car is a great value for the price. Solid performance, above average premium features, comfortable ride. All around a good vehicle. I have owned Subarus for a decade and this is the best of the bunch, but I probably would have said that about each of them. Consider that a testament to the continuing improvement Subaru is putting into their vehicles and production.
Story
Sun roof open, driving with kids in the back.
Pros
The top positive things about this vehicle are the fuel economy, ride height, and premium features. It has a nice radio, leather seats, and gets better MPG than my previous Subaru, a WRX. I enjoy the acceleration I can get from the vehicle; I'm able to pull out onto the highway in front of a semi truck without fear of being run over.
Cons
The top negative thing about this vehicle is the ride suspension is a bit loose and due to the ride height, turning feels a little bit sloppy. I suppose it is to be expected from a sport utility vehicle. Heavy vehicle plus tall vehicle equals difficult to control in corners; but as it is primarily a family-mover I don't see any real issues with that.

I felt that I got an excellent deal on a vehicle that usually runs more in the $4,000 range. I love the vehicle and the experience was friendly.
