I own a 1992 Volkswagen Corrado SLC, and it's by FAR a wonderful driver's car. If you want a car that you can drive to the grocery store, pick up the kids and will rip up the back roads like no other, then this is a car for you. Dare to be different and stand out, awesome specimens of this uncommon beauty can be found for outstanding prices. You sure won't see another one on the road often at all either, as they're getting increasingly hard to find. The amazing VR6 engine inhabits the engine bay of the SLC, and boasts a healthy 172 horsepower to the front wheels through a reliable and simple FWD system. Traction will never be an issue as it pulls through snow, rain, sleet, and ice like a tank, a tough Maine winter can be very unforgiving on a vehicle. Now, before you go about thinking ... (more)
Historia
It happens quite frequently, but my favorite thing to have happen to me in this car is when people mistake it for a Porsche.
A Favor
The comfy leather heated interior, the spacious rear hatch with plenty of room for anything you can think of. The power of the 2.8 VR6 engine along with the beautiful sound they make. The reliability of a Volkswagen and all while having wonderful MPG and very affordable to maintain. Two by two seating allowing two passengers to sit in the rear, and the wonderful design of the timeless Corrado.
En Contra
There are absolutely zero cons about this vehicle, if I could go back and change one single thing about the Corrado SLC, I wouldn't. If you're looking for a cheap sports car, that looks amazing, handles like a Porsche, has enough power to leave you smiling all day then this is the car for you.

1985 Volkswagen Scirocco - The Scirocco: the best and most unknown car of the 1980's

A scirocco is not just a car. A scirocco is a mode of transportation that grows on you until it becomes a part of your personality. The car is old (an 85 is currently 30 years old) which is even older than I am, yet it still handles very tightly, pulls hard (as hard as a 1.8 Liter four cylinder can) when you stomp on the pedal and gets decent gas mileage doing it. Not to mention it is a hatchback which means that you can fit everything you would ever need for camping, moving or biking inside. Now that is something you wouldn't expect for a 2 door sport coupe from the 80's.
Historia
The scirocco, being somewhat of a rare car, gets lots of attention from all sorts of people, but Volkswagen enthusiasts especially. One day I was driving back from my university and saw a person driving a somewhat rare Volkswagen Vanagon towards me in the opposite lane. He saw me, I saw him and we both gave each other a thumbs up for driving such awesome Volkswagen vehicles.
A Favor
The best things about this car are first its character and style. When someone drives a scirocco, you know that they are classy, refined and knowledgeable about the world. This is because the scirocco conveys those things: class, elegance, and knowledge. It is an economy car that you get into and drive, and you never want to stop and it looks beautiful at the same time. Second would be gas mileage. Being a 5 speed manual, this car can get upwards of 32 mpg when driven correctly. It also has very comfortable seats and a nicely thought through control scheme for the driver.
En Contra
The rear view mirror is bound to fall off of the windshield and no matter how many times it is reattached, it will fall off again. Although this car is a "4 seater," the rear seats do not count. No one over the age of 5 will ever be able to sit back there comfortably for more than a trip down to the end of the block. The bumpers stick out about 10 inches in both front and back and can be used as ugly park benches in a pinch.

When we first bought our Cabby it was just to be another daily driver because our Jeep died; it turned into so much more than that. My husband and I fell in love with the Volkswagen and the Volkswagen scene. While driving the car home the head gasket blew, my husband is a mechanic and had already fell in love with the car so we decided he's fix it. He said it was easy to fix the car and we have since bought another mk1 Volkswagen. We take our cars to car shows and get lots of love from all Volkswagen fans new and old. We only paid 800 for the car because when we got it was not in best condition. We have restored this one and plan on restoring many more. We also only plan on buying mk1 Volkswagens for the rest of car buying lives. I would love to buy a new Volkswagen as well unfortunat... (more)

We went to Volksfest in Columbus Ohio this summer and it was an amazing car show with all kinds of VW's. We plan on going back every year in the future
A Favor
Love the Volkswagen following and all the "family" you have at car shows. The convertible is a nice summer feature.
En Contra
The convertible top leaks because it is an old car.
