I have had this workhorse for 14 years and will probably have it for another 5. The engine will outlast the body of this workhorse and has never failed me catastrophically. With regular maintenance including replacement of worn parts I have logged 220,000 miles and still going strong.
Story
camping in the U.P. of Michigan many times with this vehicle including taking a small 12ft boat IN THE BED so we could access remote fishing lakes in the U.P.
Pros
2 wheel drive provides good gas mileage with ample towing capacity the extended cab allows me to pack the kids in if I need to the engine provides ample power to pull my boat the bed provides enough room for my cargo box and any load I might need
Cons
rust, rust and rust. I feel Chevrolet used poor quality sheet metal suppliers for their trucks including this one as they all seem to rust in the same places. The tailgate and especially the cab corners corrode and "hole out" rather quickly.

We purchased the Explorer used in 2012 because my wife was starting a new job about an hour from home and we live in Michigan with lots of snow and bad road conditions. The Explorer has been a great winter vehicle for us! My wife has picked up two stuck lady's in the past couple of years and they were in all wheel drive vehicles. The Explorer really preforms well in snow and ice. In the summer months the Explorer is a treat to drive. Our family likes to take day trips to farmers markets and butcher shops and we will usually have 4 or 5 coolers in the back with plenty of room for other trinkets purchased along the way. The only con I would say it has is the lack of room for tall, long legged people. We have a daughter so with the car seat behind the front passenger there is not much leg... (more)
Story
We went to southbend IN. On a day trip we all hade lots of fun and it was in the 90s so I'm glad the Explorer has air conditioning
Pros
4x4, Large Cargo Area
Cons
Limited Leg Room for Taller People, and Overall Snug Seating Area

I liked this dealership due to the great customer service and friendly attitude of the people helping me out. The prices were competitive compared to other dealerships which was a big deal to me. Also I have to say that I liked the fact that the salesperson wasn't pushy, but instead helpful with helping me find the right fit.
