I got an explorer as an extra vehicle two years ago. I don't know if I would really recommend the vehicle again. It is an OK Sports utility vehicle but it really guzzles gas and doesn't go very far with the gas that you put in it. It take about fifty five dollars to fill up this sucker and it goes very fast. It is a good SUV if you have money and can afford to waste it on this beast.
Story
I backed into my grandmothers car with this car. I felt like an idiot.
Pros
It is an SUV, so it can do all the things a SUV can do. Like get you up steep terrain and go off roading in it. It is also safer than a lot of other cars on the road. If you get into an accident with a smaller car you are likely to be alright and the other driver might be very hurt but you will be OK. It is a large and comfortable SUV to sit in. I also think explorers look really cool.
Cons
It really is very bad on gas. You can fill that sucker up and it will slurp it down before a couple of days and then you have to fill it up again. I also had to have the transmission replaced and it cost a lot of money. I was told that this is a usual thing for explorers. It can be expensive to maintain as a lot of things go wrong with this vehicle and it will be draining your pocket in different ways.

The car has performed well since I bought it. Only one somewhat major issue that was caught by a mechanic I've trusted. I was looking for a comfortable car because we take road trips very often and I also wanted something that handled well in bad weather. My previous car was terrible in snow and rain. This car does great in bad weather. I feel confident driving and I like being higher up as well. It makes me feel safe driving this car.
Story
We moved from DC to Florida in this car with our cat and it was the longest ride ever. The car did great, but we could not have been more stressful dealing with a cat on a 15 hour drive. The car easily pulled a large trailer for 800 miles, but that cat made the whole thing a nightmare.
Pros
I really liked how comfortable this car is. It is a relatively basic interior, but very comfortable seats. Also have a third row has been more useful than I expected it to be. It handles really well in bad weather, which was also very important to me. I like the color we got as I thought it was a unique color.
Cons
Some of the interior wore our a little more quickly than I expected, but not a lot. I wish it had better gas mileage, as we average about 22 miles per gallon. There are also some bad blind spot that I had to get used to. I almost pulled out in front of someone twice because of the blind spot.

They are easy to deal with in that they allowed me to look first and then come get someone when I was ready. I was also able to see a wide range of vehicles and test drove several different models/types.

The car I found online was still available and at the price stated online. The employees were polite and knowledgeable. The car I bought was as advertised and the purchase has so far been very satisfying.
