I really liked the look of this vehicle, and have never regretted choosing it for my main transportation. I have been more than satisfied by the way it has performed for me since I bought it six years ago. I drive it daily to work, and on the weekends I use it to haul music equipment. I play a full-sized upright bass and by putting one of the backseats down and sliding the neck of the bass between the two front seats, it is a perfect fit. I think the gas mileage is very reasonable for a six-cylinder vehicle of this size. I only have to fill up the gas tank about twice monthly. The parkway which I drive daily has very short on- and off- ramps. My GMC Jimmy has the acceleration I need to feel safe when I am merging into traffic or need to get out of the way of another vehicle. I have onl... (more)
Title
I have loaded my upright bass, two guitars, amps, two dogs, and four band members into this Jimmy- we looked like a clown car when we unloaded!
Pros
*Reliable transportation *Good acceleration *Comfortable seats *Affordable *Excellent hauling capacity
Cons
*Plastic parts seem brittle *Tends to 'peel out' when accelerating on turns, though I kinda like that

My Jimmy is pretty old, so I know it is not going to work perfectly. I have a lot of problems with the car overheating. I have to add water and coolant in the radiator at least once every week. Other than that I like the it is still running and it is a durable car.

The engine quality was great. Car ran good and was very quiet. Good for hauling and towing. Showed great power when towing. Towed a big boat that I thought was too much for the truck, but it showed exceptional performance. There was no strain on the engine at all. Truck has good steering and carriage. I hate a car with bad suspension. This truck handled well on all types of terrain. Drove to Texas and Atlanta and experienced hills and snow for the first time. I was worried about how the truck would handle in those conditions. It passed with flying colors and I was very pleased with the traction on the roads and climbing hills and going down. Made me feel very confident that it would do well in all kinds of weather and road conditions.

I met the first guy who owned it. He recognized it by its unique paint job and could not believe it was still running. He thought it was totaled because it ran hot on him. I told him I had the radiator replaced had and had been driving for 6 years. He listened at it and said he regretted selling it and asked if I would consider selling it back. Told him no it was my baby now and I couldn'... (more)
Pros
Liked the size not too big and not too little. Has good running engine, very quiet. Liked the layout of the instruments - easy to reach radio and other buttons. Cab space was good, not too small. Liked the rack on top provided extra storage and carry space. Layout of engine was good. Easy to reach oil, transmission and anti-freeze fill up points. The mileage gauge was very helpful in tracking trips and easy to use. The way the suspension and steering reacted was exceptional. It felt tight and controlled, not loose and sloppy. Interior set up and how the seats were let up and down w... (more)
Cons
Did not like the way the fuse box was placed in the car. Was hard to reach, read, and replace fuses when they went out. The placement of the spare tire in the window next to the tail gate was awkward. Made it hard to transport large objects that could have fit inside the back. If they were too big to pass that one side there was a problem. That happened a lot, especially hauling furniture etc. Tire should have been down under floor board or fixed to back door or roof anywhere other than blocking back entrance. Spare was also hard to get off and the process was intricate when putting... (more)
