Decent SUV
My Jimmy is pretty old, so I know it is not going to work perfectly. I have a lot of problems with the car overheating. I have to add water and coolant in the radiator at least once every week. Other than that I like the it is still running and it is a durable car.

Great SUV for Urban Hauling
I really liked the look of this vehicle, and have never regretted choosing it for my main transportation. I have been more than satisfied by the way it has performed for me since I bought it six years ago. I drive it daily to work, and on the weekends I use it to haul music equipment. I play a full-sized upright bass and by putting one of the backseats down and sliding the neck of the bass between the two front seats, it is a perfect fit. I think the gas mileage is very reasonable for a six-cylinder vehicle of this size. I only have to fill up the gas tank about twice monthly. The parkway which I drive daily has very short on- and off- ramps. My GMC Jimmy has the acceleration I need to feel safe when I am merging into traffic or need to get out of the way of another vehicle. I have only had two major repairs to deal with since I bought my Jimmy, and neither repair cost more than $500.00 At my local Firestone repair center. There have been minor things I have had to work around- the handle of the pull-cord that 'pops' the hood came off, but with a bit of homemade engineering I was able to fashion a new handle. One of the plastic doors for the seemingly superfluous overhead doors broke off, but that is hardly worth consideration. Overall, though there are minor problems with plastic bits breaking, the mechanics of my Jimmy are sound, the seats are comfortable, and the vehicle handles well plus has been very reliable.

I love my truck like it's part of the family
I like the 1988 year model the best because it looks like the previous older ones but has the newer frame and drive train. It also has the solid front axle. It's a full frame, not a uni body, which to me is much better and stronger.
