2008 Jeep Compass - Exceptional and versatile SUV
I purchased my 2008 Jeep Compass in 2011. I literally drove my car at the time into the dealership knowing that I was leaving with a used car that day. My car at the time was falling apart, and I didn't have any other options. I knew I wanted either a Toyota or a Jeep. Luckily, a 2008 Jeep Compass was on the lot. I took it for a test drive and immediately fell in love and purchased my Jeep that day. My love for my Jeep has never faltered. She is comfortable, reliable, attractive and easy and cheap to maintain. The 2008 Jeep Compass is large enough to take on road trips and vacations and yet small enough to not cost a fortune at the gas pump. When I bought my Jeep Compass, she had only 50,000 miles on her, and today she has 159,903 miles. I have driven her to Connecticut, thro... (more)

When I bought my Jeep Compass, she had only 50,000 miles on her, and today she has 159,903 miles. I have driven her to Connecticut, through Times Square, to Myrtle Beach, Florida, Nashville, Chicago and she has never broken down on me or left me stranded. I have never had any issues with her at all. My Jeep is incredibly reliable and all of my friends request to "take Daisy" (my Jeep's name is Daisy) wherever we go. I love the design of the front interior. The driver's seat is roomy and comfortable, but the passenger seat is by far the best. All of my friends and family love riding shotgun in my Jeep Compass because of the room, comfort and the many thoughtfully placed pockets to store and hold things. I'm not looking forward to the day when I have to purchase another vehicle, but when I do, I will be purchasing another Jeep Compass.
My favorite memory in my Jeep Compass was driving through Times Square in Manhattan with my best friend. We are from Indiana so being in Manhattan was an incredible experience, anyway. We were on our way to Seaside Heights, NJ for the last destination on our road trip, and it was just Hollywood perfect. We were on our way to Seaside Heights, NJ for the last destination on our road trip, and it was just Hollywood perfect. The sun was setting and the glow of the oranges, reds, blues and purples of the sunset was reflecting off of all of the surrounding buildings and vehicles. My best friend and I hooked my phone up to my stereo and blasted the Lion King soundtrack. We had just seen The Lion King on Broadway the night before and The Lion King was the biggest musical on Broadway that year so everyone walking past us on the streets were singing along with us and we even had a taxi driver and his occupants roll down their windows and sing along with us.
Attractive interior design. Large passenger shelf on dashboard for storing items. Comfortable seats and headrests. Good gas mileage (28/highway). Generous trunk space. Roof top cargo and storage abilities. Lots of leg space for backseat passengers. Car seat and booster seat friendly.

Very small glovebox. Unique interior design with lots of creases and small areas that are hard to clean.

2008 Jeep Compass - Do not buy!!
When I first purchased the Jeep, it was okay. I was in desperate need of a vehicle, but as soon as the first month went by, we started having transmission issues. It would overheat, and at times, it would just not move forward. After that, slowly components of the engine starting breaking: pulleys, alternator, and battery drainage. So instead of me actually paying the vehicle off, I had to invest that money into fixing it, as it didn't have a warranty. What little warranty it did have had already expired. This vehicle has been a money pit since I've had it, and there is no way I would never purchase another Jeep again. The headaches and lack of information that Jeep provides when you inquire about anything is truly remarkable. A company that was built on a good reputation did so poorly... (more)

I will say there was one time when I picked up an individual who was walking along the side of the road in my Jeep. I asked him where he was heading to, and he told me. While we were riding, he told me his story and how he ended up in the state he was in. The only thing I can see being good about this vehicle is that it is pretty good on gas. Overall, I can take it about 24 -25 mpg, and compared to what I had before, it was great. Also I did enjoy the sound system in it. The front area contains the subwoofer-like components, and it had tweeters in the back. Also it contained a CD player, and it had an aux port so that way you could plug in your iPod/MP3 player, but those are the select few pros I have about it.

This vehicle is a money pit. As soon as one thing broke, everything started breaking. I replaced the alternator in it and the pulleys in the engine. They were built with poor quality and would just snap off. I also had to replace both CV joints, so really it boils down to quality. I believe when this model of Jeep was made, it wasn't taken into consideration the consequences of using cheap parts.
