My favorite thing about this car is that it has some of the room and towing capacity of an SUV, but is still very good on gas. The one disappointing thing is that the salesman told me it has 4 wheel drive, but I couldn't initially find how to turn it on and now I'm not so sure that it does. One feature that is hard to figure out is the CVT, or continuous variable transmission. If you don't know what that is, it means this car doesn't necessarily have your standard 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th gear etc. It works like an automatic transmission to find the right gear. However, you can move the stick shift left or right to shift up or down in various situations. So if you are towing something you still can downshift if you need to. However, sometimes the CVT seems like it's struggling to find the ri... (more)
Story
Going up a steep hill, almost 90 degrees, while camping really pushed the CVT to its limits. I had to build up speed, then quickly downshift as low as it could go. The car handled it really well and I felt like I was in a car commercial.
Pros
Great gas mileage. Good towing capacity for its size. Roomy interior. Attractive design. CVT allows for more transmission options. A/C gets cold or hot very fast.
Cons
CVT can struggle to find the right gear. Does not always come in 4-wheel drive. Doesn't have the room or towing capacity of full-size SUV.

2011 Jeep Compass - Great small affordable SUV for a single women who loves the Jeep brand and look.

I love the look of the car, and the newer models look even nicer. There are over 80,000 miles, and it still runs fine. I don't like how loud the car is. It is definitely not a family type of vehicle. It is pretty loud from inside the car. It is not the smoothest ride, and you can really feel the bumps especially when driving on a gravel or brick road. The interior has a nice appearance, but it is nothing fancy.
Story
When taking this vehicle camping, I got to use the flashlight that is in the very back. The interior light that comes on when the back hatch is open comes out so you can use it as a flashlight. It has come in handy when on camping trips.
Pros
The look of the vehicle is what sold me. Also, I love the Jeep brand. The size of the interior is perfect for me. It holds five people and still has a spacious back. I like that there is a full-size spare tire in the back in case you get a flat. I also like the look of the interior. Nothing fancy but it looks good.
Cons
The vehicle is a little louder from the inside than most. Also, it isn't the smoothest ride. It isn't like driving a nice luxury SUV. I have had the car for about six years and recently just put $1,700.00 into it to fix the two front-wheel barrings and a few other issues.
