As an amateur off-roader I didn't want a vehicle that would be a chore to drive around town just to get a more superior off-road experience. The Renegade was the perfect fit. Comfortable on the paved roads and around town, but just enough to feel empowered driving it off pavement. I was impressed with the ground clearance and suspension immediately and was able to tackle moderate rock crawling on a completely stock setup. The selectable 4x4 modes are smart and let me chew through thick sand without needing to air down the tires. The stock roof bars let me mount a Thule roof rack for extra storage, but with the back seats down I can easily fit all my weekend camping gear inside. The interior is rugged but also stylish, and I love all the little Jeep Easter eggs accents around the car. M... (more)
Story
My very first time taking the Renegade off-road in the desert, I ran across a dune buggy and its passengers wedge in some deep sand. I used the red tow hook on the back of the Jeep and a chain they provided to slowly pull them out in 4x4 low. I was shocked how easy the whole process was and barely took any effort from the Jeep. Despite the Fiat build, this little firecracker definitely deserve... (more)
Pros
The styling and comfort make for a distinct driving experience. Taking it off road is not a jarring, rugged task. It handles well without compromising day to day driving.
Cons
The 9 speed automatic transmission is frustratingly numb and never seem to be in the right gear. I normally opt for the sport manual shifting so I can be in complete control. The 2.4L engine is just barely enough for the weight which means barely a 2000 pound towing capacity. I would have loved to have a larger 6 cylinder like other Jeeps.

This Jeep is smaller than a regular-sized one, which does make some issues with as much as I travel, but it has spectacular gas mileage and it is 4WD!! The little details happen to be my favorite aspect of the Jeep. Like the color splat on the RPM odometer, the little Jeep on the windshield and the pops of color on the inside. I really like how comfortable the seats are in it and the fact that the seat rises and lowers by a pump style handle blow my mind. I have noticed that it handles very well around curves and on the interstate as well. I love the way the radio is set up; it makes it easy to use while driving. I like the extra cup holders on the doors too. The back hatch does have extra storage room under the seat, and you can lay the back seats down for when you need more room. I l... (more)

I always say I have to turn on the button because this is the first button start I have had.
Pros
Gas mileage, little details and being 4WD.
Cons
Just being a little small.
