I was very happy to come across the Kia Rio LX when I did. The car itself is a great little car, perfect for 1 or 2 people (but probably not a family) and it is priced very competitively. For an entry level vehicle, I left the dealership feeling extremely satisfied and never once regretted my purchase.
Story
I was terrified of every little scratch and I wanted to keep my new car in as good as shape as possible. However, my garage is tiny. I spend the day before I got the car cleaning, reorganizing, and moving things to make the most room. I had no idea how tiny the car actually was---it slid in perfectly fine and I have even more room than I had before!
Pros
The Kia Rio drives like a dream. Smooth, quiet, efficient. The MPG so far has been excellent. While I have not had ample time to test it, it does include a ECO mode which is supposed to help boost gas mileage by lowering the performance of the vehicle. The warranty offered by Kia is one of the best in the business, which is one of the main reasons I decided to go new and with Kia.
Cons
The car itself is small. When the front seats are fully back, like they are for me since I am so tall, there are very few people who would fit in the seat behind me. Couple that with two full grown adults in the front seat, and no one is going to be fitting in the back. No cruise control is a huge negative and something I didn't think I needed to worry about, but unfortunately I didn't notice it in time and am now stuck without it. Headlights are also manual and require turning them on and off. On a side note, if you leave the lights on the car WILL turn them off.

2008 Kia Rio - Best car I've ever owned

This car has been quite possibly the best car I've ever owned. I have had it for 7 years, and have put over 180,000 miles on it, and it is still running strong. The build quality of the engine is magnificent, as the only thing I have had go wrong in the 7 years I've owned it is 3 ignition coils go out. Other than that, the engine runs smooth, accelerates well, and gets great gas mileage for a 4-cylinder, averaging around 35-37 mpg highway. The LX package I received was nice, with the stereo system having a nice sound, and having a tachometer made me feel like I was driving a sportier kind of car, even though it was superfluous at best.
Story
I was driving around town, and I pulled up next to a BMW at a red light. I have a bit of a heavy foot anyways, so I tend to accelerate hard from a stop light. I looked over at the guy in the Beemer, and he just kinda nodded back at me. Once the light turned green, I punched it, and for a few brief moments, I felt like I was in a sports car. Then the BMW hit second gear...And I stayed at 45MPH.
Pros
The best things were the good gas mileage, engine reliability, and the safety features included with the car. The stereo package was very nice as well, and the added auxiliary port for external devices was an added bonus. The outer design of the car was sharp, as well, as it was aesthetically pleasing to me.
Cons
The engine is not very powerful, and the engine's electrical components seem to be cheap. The interior fabric does feel a little cheap, as well.
