The 2008 Kia Spectra is an excellent car. The build is sturdy, and received only a few dings during a massive hailstorm--impressive! The paint has kept its color and vibrancy, and the top coat is as shiny as the day I drove it off the lot. The headlights are still clear, as well. The heat and ac have never failed to produce toasty warmth and icy cold. There is plenty of legroom in the back, as well as a generous trunk for a regular grocery run or a family vacation to the beach. The bucket seats in the front are gently curved to hug the bottom, and the driver's seat boasts several adjustments, so that one is in the perfect position to see over the dashboard. The windows and side mirrors are automatic, and the stereo boasts radio, CD and auxiliary options. Over 100,000 miles have bee... (more)
Story
One particularly harsh winter, we had about three feet of snow, which buried the Sentra. I was living out in the country at the time. I dug the car out to the best of my ability, but the snow in a drift to the side of my car melted and refroze all weekend. I came out Monday morning to go to work, hiked to the top of the hill where my car was parked, and found the tires frozen to the ground, en... (more)
Pros
The excellent mileage and minimal maintenance, the fully adjustable driver's seat, the working heat and ac.
Cons
The touchy automatic window panel on the driver's side.

I have had my kea since 2007 and it has been a good little car for me. It gets me where I need to go. It has had a few hiccups but pretty easy to fix. About a 100,000 miles it started acting up. A couple of my handles broke off but that was taken care of. The back lights seem to have a loose connection so I had to get that fixed. It might just be from the heat but the mirror in the driver side just fell down one day. Had to get some glue and put it back in there. I have not had any problems with the engine but the a/c did give me trouble. A thermostat sensor went out and for a little piece of the car, It was expensive to replace. The transmission has run like a champ. No comments about that. I do like that is a small car and pretty easy to turn and park in tight spots. I love the brigh... (more)
Story
I remember one hot summer the kids and I went out side to wash the car and once done with washing the kids blasted me with the water hose and it was on. We have a big water fight it was fun.
Pros
I love the bright blue color. It is easy make turns and it is easy to park the car. It is low to ground and looks sporty. There is plenty of space in the back for leg room. The mirrors are place exactly right where I see what is going. The bucket seats are nice and comfy. This little car is tough it has gone thru mud and snow and even rain. And it keeps going. I love how my car has the back shield wiper. Makes life easier when it is raining.
Cons
After a 100000 miles things start falling off and breaking. The a/c had trouble and the handles are breaking off. There is not a lot of truck space

The 2009 Kia Spectra is unassuming when you look at it but once behind the wheel you get the idea that this car is all business. Though not as fast as a muscle car or as strong as a pick up truck this little family sedan has enough power to handle abrupt accelerations and equally quick stops. The handling is spectacular and it corners nicely. (Almost like a race car) The interior is comfortable and spacious and affords the driver and passengers much appreciated amenities like multiple cup holders for the passenger compartment, full stereo sound provided by 6 independent speakers powered by a factory installed head unit. The sound quality is impressive and competes with custom installation units easily. If you are fortunate enough to drive it, the 2009 Spectra has put every thing you ne... (more)
Story
I once took my kea on a camping trip and to get to where we were going we had to ford a small stream. Luckily the water got to the side of the doors right as we were starting up the opposite side of the stream
Pros
All features readily accessible to the driver. Plenty of leg room for rear passengers. Great sound system with CD capability and an auxiliary jack to power new electronic products,
Cons
The biggest complaint about this vehicle is that the engine is shoehorned into the engine compartment making it virtually impossible to work on.
