2009 Kia Optima - Nothing special about this car

This vehicle has nothing special about the looks of it. It hard to find in a parking lot because it blends in with just about every other car of the same color. I purchased it because I thought being a smaller car it would provide me with savings in the cost of gasoline, but this has most assuredly not been the case. The comfort in the ride is also not that great and considering that I did not buy the least expensive or smallest size car this company sells I expected it to be better than what it is. All and all I just do not feel this car has anything special to offer.
Story
I went to a local hardware store to purchase some items and the employee was amuse to see just how much I had planned to fit into the trunk and was even more amused to see me actually do it.
Pros
The only positive thing about my vehicle would be the fact that even though it is a smaller sized car it does have a very generous size trunk and I have been able to always fit every thing into it on every occasion. Also, when the need arises I can always fold down the back seats to hold even larger items.
Cons
I was under the impression that I would get very good gas mileage with this car but instead I don't get nearly what the sticker on the window claimed I would. Also since I live in an area of the country that has snowy winters it was important to me that this car would handle well in inclement weather and it has most assuredly not, it is the worst handling vehicle in the snow that I have ever driven in my entire life. I'm afraid every time that I venture out in bad weather that I am going to have an accident.

I was a little skeptical at first. This car was very middle of the road priced and I haven't heard great things about Kia. Well boy was I wrong!!! The car is a great car. It's the first one I've bought that has been in the mid size range. The car runs and drives great and I couldn't be happier. I would definitely recommend the Kia Optima to anyone looking for a great ride, reasonably priced car that gets great gas mileage.
Story
I got the car stuck in the snow. It handles so well and did so good in the snow that I over estimated it's capabilities and got it stuck in the snow so deep that I couldn't open the doors. I had to push and push and push to get the doors open and then a snow plow truck had to plow me out. Car handles well in the snow with a good set of tires.
Pros
The 4 cylinder engine is pretty peppy. The seats are comfortable. The dash gauges are illuminated in a read light. Cool! Love the two tone black and tan interior that I got. It gets really good gas mileage for a larger sized care. I drive highway all the time and get anywhere from 30-38 highway mpg
Cons
The tires that come with the vehicle do not last long at all. I got 28K out of the tires and had to have them replaced. The dealer said that I was really lucky to get this much. The factory puts a cheap tire on the car to get it out the door, then it's your problem.

We purchased this vehicle because we wanted something that was great on mileage, and it absolutely delivers. We were also interested in the Optima because we wanted a vehicle with the greatest potential trunk space and leg room while still being a small vehicle as our garage cannot accommodate a truck or SUV.
Story
We purchased a chest freezer from our local Sam's club, and after nearly 1/2 hour of adjusting and rearranging, we realized there was no way it was going to fit. Luckily, a gentleman waiting in the parking lot noticed our plight. He offered to use his truck to take our freezer home for us. We insisted that we didn't want to take up his time, but he said he was just waiting for his wife to do h... (more)
Pros
Delivers great MPG for both highway and in-city driving. Plenty of trunk space for its size. We are avid campers, and although it is a tight fit, we have managed to fit two adults, two dogs, a toddler and car seat, and all of our camping gear for a four-day trip. There is ample room in the backseat for multiple passengers, which is an absolute must for a family with dogs!
Cons
This vehicle does not have a trailer hitch, which is a bit of a detriment given that it is a smaller vehicle. For everyday use it isn't a problem, but we quickly discovered that if we ever wanted to purchase furniture, appliances, or large electronics, we would need to recruit the assistance of a friend with a larger vehicle. If the car came with a trailer hitch, we could have rented a small U-Haul trailer for those times. As it stands, this vehicle simply doesn't have the capacity to easily carry things like bookshelves, televisions, or a chest freezer, all of which we purchased during th... (more)
