We liked the style of the car it was a used car when we bought it but it ran well and had a good fuel economy. Also since we have a young child the crash and safety rating was important to us. Looked like a good car at the time.
Story
Mostly we hate this car and wish we never got it.
Pros
Well it gets about 30 MPG in the city and 33 on the highway. I has Airbags and side curtain airbags as well. The interior looked nice and sporty. And the Engine has a good amount of power( as can be expected from a small 4 cylinder engine). We also liked the fact that the rear seats laydown for more trunk space.
Cons
Well here is where is goes down hill. The car is small it is not made for anyone who is over 6 feet tall. I feel like I have to wedge myself in and I am a skinny guy. My knees knock the dash while I am driving if there is anyone riding in the back. When no one is riding in the back I have to push the seat all the way back and its still not enough. The Brakes are sup-par and wear out fast. The tires are undersized and even on a dry road can easily lockup causing you to skid.

2009 Kia Rio5 - Poor gas mileage for a small car

I like that the car is compact and easy to park, even in cities. The seats are comfortable and made of material that is both stylish and easy to clean. Overall however, I have been very disappointed with this car. I purchased it at three years old with under forty thousand miles on it. The car has had major mechanical problems ever since I purchased it, and it has been nearly impossible to find safe winter tires that fit on the car. For being such a small car, it gets very poor gas mileage. I have had to get four alignments done in five years.
Pros
The biggest pros about the car are the color (black), the size, and the cost. It has lasted over 100,000 miles. The air conditioning works really well.
Cons
The gas mileage is very poor for a car that small. I barely get 22 miles per gallon highway. It has had many, many mechanical problems for a young car that did not have a lot of miles on it. I have had to replace multiple wheel bearings and an over $1,200 engine repair. Several sets of new tires and brake replacement. The worst is having to have four alignments in five years of car ownership.
