The 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer ES was the first car I purchased myself. I bought the car in 2006, and I am still driving it today in 2015. At nearly 270,000 miles, this vehicle still handles well and gets great gas mileage (between 25-30 miles per gallon). While I love the compact design, now that I have 2 children, it's getting a little cramped, although they do fit comfortably in the backseat.
Story
I have driven this car on many road trips, nothing too exciting, but I always knew I had a reliable ride. Also, both of my children came home from the hospital in this car.
Pros
This vehicle gets great gas mileage. I haven't had any major repairs, just routine maintenance. Notably, I recently replaced the AC Compressor and serpentine belt. The engine has a lot of "get up and go" and runs smooth. The heat and AC Are remarkable. For a small vehicle, it has a pretty roomy trunk. In 9 years, I have put over 250,000 miles on this vehicle and it is still running great.
Cons
I don't have many negative things to say about this vehicle. The only issue I ever had was a clog in the a.c. hose, which was easily fixed.

When I showed up to the dealership, the first model I was looking for was Lancer Evolution. After negotiations, though, the price for the ES model was too low to pass up on. My first thought was "did I pass up a good time for a cheaper price?" With its surprisingly quick and always reliable motor, plus 45,000 thousand miles with trips going to both coasts of the country I can say this was a worthy investment with only a few hiccups along the road.
Story
Driving with a few friends to the west coast in general. It was a 2 day trip but was a blast with so many memories in the car going and leaving then actually hanging out in any of the states we visited.
Pros
When I first got the car I had a lot of my music on an iPod. The car has a USB slot to not only charge any device, but also syncs up all the music directly into the head unit so I can navigate all my music through my dashboard without having to touch the iPod. The second plus, there is nearly an identical system for the Bluetooth as well so now I sync my phone and listen to my music on Spotify.
Cons
The only negative thing was when I was coming back home from a trip with my car after only owning it for about 6 months. My car started making noises under the hood that had me worried, and all of sudden I heard a snap. For five hours I had drive with my car about 30 dB higher than usual which had me sweating. Once I brought it into the dealership, they found a defect and replaced it that day for me free of charge.
