I've had this car for 17 years now. It gets normal city use and the occasional road trip. I have NEVER had a single problem with this car beyond normal wear and tear. I have a bad habit of not maintaining cars the way they should be - I have run this car a number of times on almost no oil and the engine still runs very well. It has never broken down. The worst that has happened is the battery ran down and I had to get a tow to get the car to the auto shop. It's a small car, but that often means I can get into places the larger cars can't.
Story
Well, it got iced in a couple of years ago, but that's because our driveway floods and after one particular flood we had a cold front that froze the car in place. That's less about the car though. I have driven this car on dirt farm roads where my husband thought we would get stuck.
Pros
This car has held up to my flaky maintenance with no problems at all. It also is nice and speedy when I want it to be. In the 17 years I've had it, the only things that needed fixing were gaskets, tires, battery, alternator, AC, and radio. I think I may have needed to get the catalytic converter fixed at one point, but I think that is also a normal wear & tear issue.
Cons
There's one electrical connection that is failing that controls speedometer, odometer and miles traveled. These displays don't work more often than they do work, and my auto guy was unable to find a replacement for the failing connection. This started about the 12th year of my ownership. Also, the radio failed pretty early on, but it was easily replaced.

2015 Mitsubishi Mirage - Fantastic gas economy

I love driving this car! It is smaller and not a 'luxury vehicle', but its economy is amazing. When we bought it, the dealer advertised it as "44 mpg Highway" - but we regularly get 50 mpg highway driving. It has a smaller gas tank but it costs less than $20 to fill him up at current gas prices. The suspension is good but you do feel a lot a bumps - small wheel base and smaller tires do make a difference it seems. However, this car can turn on a dime! I rarely need to do a 3-point turn as I can swing a tight turn on the street! You can easily fit 4 adults into this vehicle and we are seriously considering using it for a long road trip as it is so inexpensive to run. We often only have to fill the tank once or twice a month, which I know would vary depending on how long your commute is ... (more)
Story
There is a few Mitsubishi Mirage drivers in our city - and at least one guy who has the exact same car, age and color as ours - often see him whilst driving on the south and we always beep and wave at one another - really should meet him at some point!
Pros
Overall price we paid, excellent economy for gas etc, cute vehicle, easy to park.
Cons
Slightly cheaper looking finish on interior, a bit bumpier suspension, big trucks like to try to intimidate a smaller car.

I have a 2014 White Mitsubishi Mirage, it had about 31,000 miles on it when I purchased it. It is very small in size, which I like, my previous car was much wider. It is very attractive, super sleek and fits into small spots easily. I like the size and the gas mileage, the small tank makes for super cheap fills at the gas station, and the air conditioning works great. But, I don't like the plastic exterior, it feels a bit unsafe.
Story
I live in an apartment complex where there aren't too many spots, and at the end of the night there is usually one very small spot that not many other cars can get into, except mine. So that's always fun, finding a close spot when no one else can park there.
Pros
It has a very small gas tank and is very eco friendly in that it has a great miles per gallon radius. The car has a hatchback as well, which is nice because it fits a bit more that usual trunks do, and I can fold down my back row of seats to fit larger items. The air conditioner works great, which is awesome here in Florida where it gets to be in the 90s most days in the summer.
Cons
The outside is made out of more of a plastic material, so it does dent very easily and can feel unsafe if I ever did get into an accident. Also, when I first bought it the car had a smell to it like there had been animals in it. Sometimes when I hit the gas too hard, an odd smell comes out of the air conditioner. The hatchback could be a little bigger, and I don't like how low to the ground the car is.
