I've had this car for 17 years now. It gets normal city use and the occasional road trip. I have NEVER had a single problem with this car beyond normal wear and tear. I have a bad habit of not maintaining cars the way they should be - I have run this car a number of times on almost no oil and the engine still runs very well. It has never broken down. The worst that has happened is the battery ran down and I had to get a tow to get the car to the auto shop. It's a small car, but that often means I can get into places the larger cars can't.
Story
Well, it got iced in a couple of years ago, but that's because our driveway floods and after one particular flood we had a cold front that froze the car in place. That's less about the car though. I have driven this car on dirt farm roads where my husband thought we would get stuck.
Pros
This car has held up to my flaky maintenance with no problems at all. It also is nice and speedy when I want it to be. In the 17 years I've had it, the only things that needed fixing were gaskets, tires, battery, alternator, AC, and radio. I think I may have needed to get the catalytic converter fixed at one point, but I think that is also a normal wear & tear issue.
Cons
There's one electrical connection that is failing that controls speedometer, odometer and miles traveled. These displays don't work more often than they do work, and my auto guy was unable to find a replacement for the failing connection. This started about the 12th year of my ownership. Also, the radio failed pretty early on, but it was easily replaced.

I bought a Mitsubishi Mirage vehicle primarily because it was an affordable new car I could finance for my wife that had great gas mileage (it gets approximately 40 mpg) and some cool custom features that could be added on. The custom features we added from the standard package that my wife really liked were a back-up camera, parking sensors, and GPS system. It was one of the few smaller footprint (without going electric) vehicles that was a five seater, as well as that it actually fit a big guy like me (I'm 6 foot 2 inches, and weigh approx. 330 pounds). However, I fit but not very comfortably. And even for my two daughter's car seats in the back, it feels very crammed very quickly. The trunk space is minimal which one would expect for a compact car. But once you're using it everyday,... (more)
Story
Because of this being a compact car, I'm able to squeeze through tight spaces other cars can't -- which can be pretty funny to be able to be on my way continuing my day when other cars are stuck in traffic.
Pros
Great gas mileage (40 mpg). Cool package add on options. Back-up camera, parking sensors, and GPS system. Five-seater compact, which is hard to find. More environmentally friendly than most in class. Large option of colors. Unique car.
Cons
Horrible horsepower (listed online as 75 hp). Lack of space. Driver and passenger, very minimal trunk storage. Also when doing repairs, it will be cramped quarters. Difficult to get services done, and difficult to order repair parts.

This was my very first vehicle that my dad bought for me when I started college, so it was very slightly used as it was less than a year old. I loved the color, because my favorite color is green. And, best of all, it both matched my college colors (green and gold), so my car was awesome for adding touches of school cheer with decals and such. Even though I was a new college student when I received my car, I wish it were bigger at times, and sometimes I wish it were sportier. I had my heart set on a Firebird, but my parents thought I would kill myself with such a fast vehicle.
Story
I loved being able to test out the speed since different interstates were readily available. Being a young person who loved music, I would often rev and brake the car in rhythm with my music.
Pros
It was great on gas mileage for sure. I remember filling up my tank for less than $20 and it lasting all week, and I definitely joy ride a lot, especially on the highways. In addition to this, I went out on the weekends and drove back and forth to work. It always gave me a smooth and quiet ride, so I was very thankful for that.
Cons
I kind of had a love/hate relationship with the interior, because it was so light. I ate on the go, so I had to be careful. When I transitioned to marriage with kids, it was even harder. Another negative is the size, because I started having kids. It wasn't conducive for a family, because the car seat took up half the back seat bench.
