The performance and durability of the Montero are unparalleled to any other vehicle it's age with the same amount of wear and tear. There are over 240K miles on this car and it still handles amazingly! I love how roomy it is from the inside and it handles smoothly. The maintenance costs are very low and manageable, just make sure you keep up with the tire rotations and oil changes. Great for the camping and a night at the drive-in. The seats fold down easily and can accommodate sleeping mats and pillows for a romantic drive-in movie. Driver and passenger seats comfortable, however back seats could definitely be better.
Pros
It is just so roomy!! Great for outdoorsy people and shuffling with kids around the city. Has tons of room in the trunk you fit all you camping gear easily and all your kids essentials. Grocery shopping or a trip to IKEA a total breeze.
Cons
The worst accept of the Montero Sport is the gas mileage. On average it gets 8 city, 22 highway. But being that my car is older the mileage is a little less. I feel it averages about 14 mpg, which is not great, specially with the price of gas.

2001 Mitsubishi Montero - This vehicle is comfortable, stylish, and spacious.

I was able to purchase my vehicle at a great used price from a private party. The mileage was about 215,00 and the only known issue was an oil leak. I love the style of this vehicle and appreciate the size for accommodating our family of five. Overall, this vehicle was a great value for what we needed.
Story
The last family trip that we took in this vehicle was memorable and enjoyable. I sat in the back seat with the children, and had plenty of room to spread out with blankets, pillows, and electronics. We all connected to a wi-fi hotspot and enjoyed our comfortable trip in this vehicle.
Pros
The best feature of this vehicle is the third row seating. There is enough room to fit a family of five comfortably. Other perks of this vehicle include a large sun roof, heated leather seats, and all wheel drive. It rides very smoothly and although it is a large vehicle, it seems like you are driving a smaller vehicle.
Cons
Although we do enjoy this vehicle overall, there are some negative aspects. The rear door is difficult to open. The rear A/C unit only blows on high. The digital display dash unit does not function as it suppose to. The cd player does not play discs. The passenger side heated leather seat comes on whenever it wants to, without any way to turn it off. There is an oil leak. And lastly, The heater only works on a very high temperature.
