When I first saw this car, I was turned off. I didn't like the way it looked. A ten year old boy encouraged me to test drive it because it looked 'futuristic.' Doubtful, I got behind the wheel... That was eight years ago, and I have never regretted the purchase of my secondhand Aztek. It drives wonderfully - it feels substantial, but it's not a big, heavy vehicle. It rather has minivan comfort and utility in an SUV package. I particularly like the way the seating is raised, so you aren't straining to see over the hood, and the visibility is good all the way around. The way the back seats fold flat to accommodate cargo is a simple and smooth operation and offers TONS of space in the back. Its gas mileage has been pretty impressive, and it has required few repairs. The way the exterior... (more)
Story
I enjoyed using this car on a camping trip in the Chattanooga valley. I backed the Aztek right up to the edge of the fire and sat with my partner on the tailgate. I was able to plug my cell phone and stereo right into the cargo bay ports so we could have some music, and then just chilled out in the cargo bay and went to sleep. In the morning, we tossed all our stuff in the back, closed the hat... (more)
Pros
Comfortable Durable body Fuel efficient Big cargo area (26 cu. Ft.!) Camping package
Cons
Electronic controls wear out easily Some interior parts aren't so durable Wimpy stereo system (factory)

I bought my Aztec used, and I got what I paid for. It was cheaper than other SUVs, and I soon found out why. This vehicle had more repair costs than any of my others. While the Aztec looked sleek and modern, its performance was average at best. It felt really light for an SUV. I used it for road driving, and it was decent with above-average mpg. But I wouldn't dare take it off-road like a true SUV. I had enough problems on city streets.
Story
My favorite memories with my Aztec would be all the times I used it to haul my kayak around.
Pros
My Aztec looked sharp and had plenty of acceleration. Its gold color was perfect to repel the desert sun. There was plenty of room inside, and the seating was comfortable. I loved that it was easy to install a roof rack that I bought separately to carry my kayak. This vehicle was great to take on long vacations because of the ample storage and decent gas mileage.
Cons
There were many mechanical failures, even though I did not have it long, did not drive many miles, and never took it off road. I had to replace all my shocks and struts after seeing them deteriorate. The ride in this SUV is not the best either. The cabin is noisy and it is difficult to drive in strong winds.
