2003 Saturn Vue Owner Ratings & Reviews
Write a Review
2003 Saturn Vue - Great first car.
My parents purchased this vehicle for me when I turned 16, and I have used it for eight years now. It was previously owned by a travelling salesman, so it had many miles when I first got it. By now, thanks to several cross-country trips, it is approaching 200,000 miles and still running well. The maintenance I have had to provide for the vehicle is minimal. We took it to the shop with I first got it to have the airbags fixed and made sure there were no issues the previous owner didn't tell us about/know of. Other than that, no problems. One thing that I dislike about it is that the turn radius is not great. I have to be very careful when parking, especially in tight lots. As far as driving goes, on highways the wind can make the inside a little loud, but I think I just need to get the ... (more)
Story
I used this car to go to a camping ground near Disney World, Florida (it was Spring Break and my friends and I didn't want to pay the ridiculous hotel prices). One night, it rained and our tent flooded, so we slept in my trunk. The next night the tent had dried so some of us slept in the tents again, but another one of my friends insisted on sleeping in the trunk again because he found it more... (more)
Pros
The best thing about the Vue is reliability. I have driven it cross county many times, and it still runs as well as it did when I first got it. I also love the space. Whenever I moved to/from school, I was able to fit all of my things in the trunk and back seats. My favorite feature is the sun roof.
Cons
The gas mileage is not great. I tend to hover at or below 20 mpg. For a car this size, it could be worse. The turn radius is also very wide, which makes navigating tight parking lots difficult.
2003 Saturn Vue - One of the Most Reliable and Budget Friendly SUV's Ever Made
The Saturn Vue is a nicely-sized SUV that not only provides reliability but also is extremely good on gas compared to other SUV's in it's class. It is surely not the best SUV that money can buy but for the cost of the Saturn Vue it would be hard to find another SUV that had the same features, reliability, comfort, build quality, efficiency, and utility. One of it's best features is the high miles per gallon it gets in either city or highway driving. Sadly this quality is what also makes it one of it's worst features - performance. The Saturn Vue will not be liked by anyone who likes a ton of power or who needs to tow heavy objects. It is simply not designed for these and instead designed for transport in a comfortable environment and also allows for plenty of storage area.
Story
When the power went out during a party my friends and I were having I immediately turned on my Vue and cranked up the stereo to our favorite CD. I pointed the truck so that the headlights lit up the party so people could continue playing games, dancing, etc. There were no complaints about the power being off at that point.
Pros
The most positive thing about the Saturn Vue is its gas mileage. My Saturn can easily get over 30 miles per gallon on the highway which is great compared to many other SUV's on the market. So not only is it nice to have a full-sized cabin and storage area, you don't have to pay extra to refuel it like you would with other SUV's. The stereo system is excellent, the carbon fiber siding makes the Vue look brand new even to this day, and the captain chairs in the front of the vehicle make any trip feel like you're sitting in your favorite arm chair.
Cons
I have only one bad thing to say about my Saturn Vue. It is the fact that it is only equipped with a 2.2 Liter engine which makes the Vue feel extremely sluggish when accelerating. With an engine of this size, it would not be possible to tow any type of large boat or trailer as the engine would be too stressed.
