2000 Toyota Celica Owner Ratings & Reviews

2000 Toyota Celica - Started out on the right foot.
A first car is something special, it's quite literally the vehicle that drives your first couple years of growing and newfound independence. My 2000 Toyota Celica GT-S was just what I needed in that regard. It wasn't the fastest car on the road but it couldn't be beat in ease of use for the price I paid. On top of that the engine is bulletproof, over the 5 years or so I've had it there's been no problems whatsoever. For a first car that gave me no worry, my Celica has me pretty happy.
Story
I will definitely always remember racing that thing around in the backwoods neighborhoods of my hometown. She isn't the fastest or nimblest car out there but she's still pretty fun to drive when the road gets windy.
Pros
The greatest thing about this car to me is the styling, this is a coupe sold from 2000-2005 (At least the generation of Celica I bought) and to me the styling still holds up with modern cars today, it doesn't look really out of place on the road. Second, for a coupe it still has pretty good amounts of space, especially in the trunk, I've never had issues with getting stuff where it needed to go as long as it wasn't huge. Lastly, the gas mileage even as the years have worn on remains pretty nice. I made a 360 mile round trip on a single tank of gas in an almost 20 year-old car, can't compla... (more)
Cons
The negatives, for one thing this car doesn't have a ton of power, unless you're at the high side of the RPM range you aren't going anywhere too fast. Second, for my taller friends, this was a car that didn't really give them the head or leg space they would need. Lastly, the door electronics have always been a little weird as long as I've owned it, the locks will sometimes work electronically sometimes not, it's become sort of a guessing game as to what it will be that day.
2000 Toyota Celica - Great Looking and Lasting Coupe
I have enjoyed my car a lot since I got it at the age of 16. It is a blast to drive and looks good doing it. It is the perfect size for me and fits me really well. When I first go it I received compliments and till this day I still receive compliments. The car was well made the craftsmanship has stayed true throughout the years. There are only little things I dislike about the car and they are negligent compared to all the positives the car has offered. It has been a super reliable car and I have developed a personal relationship with it.
Story
I remember when my parents first brought the car home and I stared out the house window in disbelief.
I remember moving from Virginia and driving the car to Atlanta, GA with no issues.
I also remember scores of friends and especially girls who I have had in the car over the years, so many memories.
Pros
My car has unbelievable reliability. For the 10+ years I have owned the car it's only once broke down and even then it was just a minor part that I fixed. I have yet to pay for any costly repairs. Outside of the reliability I absolutely love the looks of the car. At fourteen years old it still looks fantastic and does not look dated at all. I also like the size of the car and how well it turns. It really hugs the turns. Lastly it gets pretty good gas mileage.
Cons
Over the years the car has developed some rattles I can't seem to get rid of. It also is a hard car to work on due to its small size. There is very little room in the engine bay and maintenance is a pain because of that. Also the headlights and sunroof are made of inferior materials that I had to replace at least once. Lastly the car could use a little bit more horsepower and torque.
