When I first saw the RAV4 in the dealership lot, I thought of it as a cheap knock off of a Subaru Outback. I was pleasantly surprised that this car seemed to have more space inside than a Suby (Subaru). I have owned it for a year, and this car not only has some get up and go, it also has 4WD! There is a spare tire (not a donut a complete tire) that is mounted on the back of the vehicle.
Story
I had to place some 2x4x8s in the vehicle. My wife and I laid the seats down and had to boards sitting between us while we rode home. I had to turn my body in to funny shapes to reach the slap shift.
Pros
Great gas mileage! Also, the storage is surprisingly large. I have been able to transport eight-foot long building materials from Lowes with no problems. This vehicle is the perfect hybrid between car, truck, and 4WD vehicle. I have been able to navigate snow and ice in it better than most other vehicles on the road at the time. It has required hardly any maintenance other than the routine things like tires, oil, brakes, etc. I did have to replace the alternator, but it is over ten years old! The alternator inside looked like it was factory. Great vehicle. Toyota has won my loyalty with th... (more)
Cons
Sometimes you can hear some plastic rattling a bit when you get up to speed on the freeway. Nothing that is falling apart, just a design flaw in the vehicle. It also only has a cigarette lighter for power. It would be great if it had USB ports like most modern vehicles, but this car was made over ten years ago, so I can't complain about that aspect too much.

My family and I love this SUV. It has everything you want in a car (great gas mileage, spacious seats, good features, and in my opinion, stylish). The Rav4 also comes in multiple trims. My family chose the XLE because we planned on using this car for a long time, and we also wanted the 4WD feature available on the XLE. This is also a "unique" vehicle where most people don't buy this trim. I will admit, many of the features are nice but unnecessary. For example, white leather seats is not necessary, especially if you plan on having kids in the car. The navigation touchscreen is also not as sensitive as I would like it to be. Last, I feel like the SUV is too low to the ground to actually be considered an SUV, and this is an issue when we do take the vehicle off-road.
Story
When we took this SUV to the beach. We were stuck in the sand and got 17 people to help my husband push the car out of the sand while I steered it in neutral.
Pros
This car has great features such as great gas mileage, spacious seats, and a plethora of accessories. My favorite feature is the option for different colored leather seats and the black rims that came with the car.
Cons
Car is low to the ground, which defeats the purpose of a 4WD vehicle. The touchscreen is also not sensitive, and the features for an XLE are almost a waste of money. If you're looking to save a little bit of money, look into the LE or Limited.
