The car is cherry red, easy to spot, and a good looking car despite being 16 years old. As a first car for high school, it was magnificent. It god the job done while looking good too. It had gas mileage that suited my needs, which was about 18 mpg city and 23 mpg highway. It had a five speed manual transmission. I bought it and it just had its clutch replaced making the gear changes very smooth. Its little turbo made it very "zippy" and agile.

Back when I took the car to school for the first time my friends all wanted to go to Wendy's for lunch, but the car couldn't carry enough people. We managed to stuff eight people in a four person car. Luckily the Wendy's was right across the street so it really wasn't an issue. We even told the school officer on duty what we were doing!
Pros
One of the best aspects about this car is that it is still a good looking vehicle. 16 Years after its initial release, it still looks good. For the entire time that the car has been under my ownership, it has never had any reliability issues. Aside from required maintenance, the car has never needed much. Its relatively fast for the size of the car and engine, and it is as reliable as can be.
Cons
If there were any negatives to this car is that any maintenance required on it can be a little pricy but that is expected when someone purchases a second hand European car.

I loved the low roof line which made the side windows appear slim compared to most cars. The TT was not quick off the line but would accelerate after the turbo kicked in. There was plenty of head room and space inside the car and I'm 6' tall. The styling was nice with the brushed aluminum trim around the air vents and especially the little silver garage door that covered the stereo when not in use. I had that security idea before the Audi TT introduced it. The shape and overall look was beautiful. I always got excited before driving. The silver color was a bright almost white silver which was perfect. I always got more respect on the road with this car such as people giving me the right of way, and I never got a door ding or outside damage on the exterior. The seats were very ... (more)

I had a friend working at the local radio station KROQ. He would call me sometimes three times a week with free concert tickets. So for five years, I would take a different girl to these concerts every week and taking them in this car was like flying first class. Let's just say I was real popular back then making it some of the most memorable experiences of my life. I really had a lot of f... (more)
Pros
The silver exterior. The overall look and style inside and out. The brushed aluminum gas cap. The smooth driving ability and acceleration from second to fifth gear. Exciting to drive every time. Red interior lights. The Xenon headlights. The silver radio cover. The climate-control system and navigation. The wide wheel base and 17" tires. The back seats could be lowered to accommodate a lot more stuff than I thought it could have otherwise. Solid-built car with no performance or wear and tear issues.
Cons
Cost to maintain. Cost of the tires which were rated at only 15,000 miles before needing to be replaced at almost $300 each (at the time). Size. It had a back seat but only two would fit comfortably. Most I had at one time was five people in the car.

2013 Audi TT - Fun yet not reliable

While the horsepower was adequate, for the price it did not seem like a very powerful car. It felt like a very expensive Mazda Miata instead of like a BMW. It was beautiful, and everyone admired it, yet it seemed like an entry level luxury car instead of a real luxury car. It never provided a smooth relaxing ride, and it never seemed to be ready to take on the curves and act like a sports car either. Mostly Audi made it to look good and not perform well, and that was my mistake in not realizing that when I bought it.

I have a friend that runs the local small Christmas parade, and he was having trouble coming up with enough vehicles for the VIP's to ride in for the parade, and he asked me to use my car. I said yes, but only if I could be the driver. Driving along at 5 mph with the whole town waving and staring, it was a pretty unusual experience for me.
Pros
Putting the top down and driving slowly almost anywhere was fun, and I have never owned a car that got so much attention from other drivers and pedestrians. It was easy to clean because it was so small, and the gas mileage was pretty good. For short trips to the beach it was unbeatable to feel the breeze in your face on a beautiful day.
Cons
On long trips, the seat support was not what I was hoping for, and the road noise was a little annoying. While the gas mileage around town was OK, the highway mileage was not much better. Luggage or people capacity was definitely lacking which anyone can tell just by looking at it, but it was a problem on long trips. Reliability was not nearly as good as the Honda accords I have owned, and service was a little more expensive.
