2007 BMW 5 Series - Cute, Classy, N Cumbersome
I like my vehicle because it is very sleek, sporty and classy. It's very luxurious and affords all of the luxuries of owning a luxury vehicle.

The most memorable experience has been driving home. It's been sorta rough from there.

The positive features is that its a very attractive brand.

The cons are that the maintenance repairs are very expensive! Every trip to the shop can be $1000 easy. Some even can go into the multiple thousands.

2007 BMW 5 Series - Sturdy, roomy, beautiful.
I have really enjoyed my 2007 BMW 525xi. It drives so beautifully and smooth, like I'm part of the road. The xi trim level is a cold weather package, and I live in a snowy area. The steering wheel is heated as well as the seats which make a cold car more bearable. Driving in the snow was typically scary before this car. It's a heavy enough car and has very good tires so I've never felt out of control or drifting in snow. I can't tell you how scary it can be to lose control, or see another car lose control in the snow, on the freeway going 60 plus miles an hour.
The interior consists of a dual color black and burnt orange leather color, against a cool white exterior that made a striking contrast. The Bluetooth lets me talk hands free. There are three places you could plug a car charger... (more)

There are three places you could plug a car charger into, one in between the front seats and two between the back seats. There is a soft amber light situated in specific locations of the car for ambient lighting. One place is the light shining down from the ceiling of the car down in front of the dash between the driver and front passenger. That is where all the controls and knobs are located, so you can see where your hand is and direct it to the right knob. Might seem a silly thing, but it's come in handy more than a time or two on a dark road at night.
Driving this car thru the Utah mountains, with the sun roof open, during the middle of summer. The windows down to enjoy the cooler air on top of the mountains. It's one of the best feelings in the world.

I like that this car is roomy enough for four adults to sit comfortably. The gas mileage was great. I had to drive this for long stretches at a time, and the interior of the car is always quiet, even if it's loud, windy and stormy outside. When you shut the doors, they shut with a very solid "thud" sound, as opposed to some cars that you hear a tingy sound when the door closes. I love the headlights and second pair of fog lights- they light up a huge area! I love the headlights and second pair of fog lights- they light up a huge area! Having two rambunctious boys aged seven and eight, the leather upholstery was easy to clean up after their inevitable messes. Even though the car is ten years old, I've been able to maintain the leather, there's no dry spots, no peeling, no discoloring, there's not even a scratch anywhere on the leather. Considering I've driven the car since before I had children, that means it's had two car seats against the leather for the better part of 8 years. I also like that when you lock the car, the lid to the gas tank locks. You unlock the car, go around to the passenger side, and just have to touch the gas tank lid, and it opens up. The trunk has a nice big button to pop the trunk, there's also a huge button on the remote for it. You can also roll the windows up with the remote, hours after the car's been turned off.
There have been a few certain instances where I pressed the remote and the car didn't immediately respond and acknowledge I pressed the unlock key, so I was a little afraid I might get locked out of my car if the remote battery died. I got a brand new replacement battery put into the key fob, and still faced the same issue. However, there's a backup manual key inside the key fob, so my fears really would have never played out. Also, once the dealership gave me a new fob, no more issues. German cars are, in a very broad scope, notorious for having bizarre mechanical problem, so that's what ... (more)

Also, once the dealership gave me a new fob, no more issues. German cars are, in a very broad scope, notorious for having bizarre mechanical problem, so that's what I chalked the fob issue up to. As I mentioned, I love the weight of this car. It's definitely not as heavy as a truck, but you can't say this car is 'peppy', like you can say of a BMW 3 series, that's much lighter than my car. You can still accelerated moderately fast (it's no M5), but I wish I had a little more gusto coming from the car when I push down all the way on the gas pedal. Then again, I'm not doing any racing these days. I've been lucky, but a con in general of the BMWs is that IF something goes wrong, it's almost always quite expensive to repair. So, that's been another worry, looming in the back of my mind. It's not come to fruition, but something to consider. Especially if you buy one that's ten or more years old.
