I like my 2008 BMW 5 for its comfort and ease of driving. Of course a BMW is known for its stability and ability to hug the road. It is a very solid ride and there is very little road noise. I must frequently make 11 hour drives to visit my mom and it allows me to make the drive in comfort in one day without having to stay overnight somewhere.
Story
When I first purchased the car, I still had my Anatolian Shephard dog which is a very large, tall breed. Andy, the Anatol, enjoyed standing in the back seat and poking his head out of the sun roof on his trips to the vet. I never pamper a car; I believe it is around to serve me. The BMW 5 isn't fussy, just solid top notch.
Pros
The top positive things about the car are its roominess, comfort, and ease of driving. The full sized sedan has four doors. It is not too low to the ground, so getting in and out is easier. There is plenty of room for five adults and the trunk is huge! Traveling with luggage is a breeze and the whole family can fit when I travel to visit the out of town folks.
Cons
One thing I didn't like about the vehicle was the price point. I bought the 2008 model in 2011 and paid as much for it used as I would have for a brand new vehicle of another make. It has been pretty reliable, but several unexpected repairs were very costly including a repair to a vibration under the hood and some kind of dislodging of the sun roof which seem to be pretty common problems with the 5 series after I looked around a little online.

First of all it has an amazing look - not too aggressive and not too serious, which makes it beautiful. It is a medium-high quality brand and this is in the upper half of their selection. Steering and response was incredible and, in conjunction with the other parts of the car, the performance has always been on point.
Story
I was with my girlfriends mom and a tire went flat, had removed the other one from the trunk... quite embarrassing
Pros
I think the car's versatility was a big pro. It could be used in the city, for long road trips to the coast, and even to go to the track and cut some corners! All done in perfect comfort and safety (the German engineering has not failed me once to this day). Customer support was very fast and accurate, always providing good service and replacement parts for the different revisions the car has gone through.
Cons
Perhaps the biggest con is that of money since the costs of maintenance and spare parts can get a bit pricey. This is also bad for the insurance as these types of sport cars tend to be involved in a great deal of accidents and so the premium is quite high in comparison to cars in a similar price range. If you have a family of 2-3 children you will of course fit in the car but forget about a big space in the trunk for all your stuff. The trunk is a bit small and may not be enough for such a use; I would recommend going for the family version or directly look at other cars of BMW aimed at th... (more)
