My wife and I loved this car from the moment we drove it off the lot. It is comfortable, quiet, capable in bad weather, roomy, and efficient for the vintage. We love the seats and the feel. We love how well it's worn and how cheap it is overall. We love how it virtually never breaks down. We love the transmission and the motor. It's fantastic.
Story
We drove this car all over the region. I remember taking it to Park City Utah for Sundance film festival. I drove it to Pasadena for school a couple times, all the way from WA state. Another time I took it over the continental divide from WA to Denver. Good trips.
Pros
The car was made by Ford over a few year period when Ford owned Volvo. This vehicle really calls back to that day. The seats are comfortable like Volvo seats. It has the funny center motor mount overhead like Volvos. It has the same suspension and tie-arms and so on. I love the automatic transmission that never shifts really. I love how I can get 27 mpg on the highway even though it's a big SUV. It is extremely agile and solid in the snow and ice. Never had a single issue with motor or any major system. Just normal wear items for nearly 200k.
Cons
The AWD system has a tendency to wear out tires on the shoulders. We've never been able to get a set of tires to last more than 40k on the car before it wears them out. We've purchased very expensive 90k tires and cheapie tires and they all seem to last about the same amount of time. The transmission is difficult to properly maintain.

2005 Ford Freestyle - Awesome rig.

The car has lasted me over a decade and never let me down. 200,000 miles and still growing strong. One of the best values for the money I can possibly imagine. I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to buy this car. It was kind of expensive at first, but the mash-up of having a Ford car when they owned Volvo is such a great thing. It's comfortable, quiet and wonderful.
Pros
The car is relatively efficient. It is excellent in terms of traction in wet and in snow. The seats are very comfortable for long trips and for jaunts around town. The car is quiet. It is very versatile, can drive off road, can tow small loads, and is great. I love it.
Cons
Down sides are that the car has a funky CVT system that is difficult to maintain. It also has some quirky design aspects inherited from Volvo (engine mounts and steering) also hard to maintain and replace. I have had to replace some electronic pieces as well over time. As a whole, there are very few cons. I wish it got better mileage on the highway.

They did a good job working to get me in the truck that I wanted and didn't try to sell me something I didn't need or want.
