The Accent has a nicer interior for the segment, and its base engine moves the car well in most situations. In addition, the hatchback model has a good amount of cargo space.
First I can say I am pleasantly pleased with this car. With the 138 hp coming from this direct fuel injected engine the gas mileage is at the top with a consistent 40mpg. I can say that I'm not an easy driver on the car so that gas mileage is for the manual gear box and I do drive the car at a brisk pace. The engine is so smooth all the way to red line and the shifting is really good. Easy gates to find your gears and with the 6 speed manual the fun never stops. The only thing you've got to get used to is the way you go into reverse so keep this in mind if you're ever wanting to purchase this car.

The 2003 Hyundai Accent Exceeded My Expectations!
I bought the 2003 Hyundai Accent at the time because I was looking for the absolute least expensive new car that I could get with an automatic transmission. Though I was looking for an inexpensive car and didn't expect much, I love the Accent. It's big enough for the 2 car seats I needed for 2 kids. The color I picked was Glacier Blue. It's like the color of the sky and the color and the car are absolutely beautiful to see in person. I've taken many photos of the car and it looked great. Time and again I got compliments for the car and people wanted to buy it from me, I never expected this from such an inexpensive car! The seats have been very comfortable. Couldn't imagine liking seats more. Steering wheel and pedals all have a perfect feel to them. Seatbelts are excellent. Dashboard looks great, is easy to read, in day time and night. All the knobs and switches are clearly marked and easy to use and work in an expected way. The Accent did have some shortcomings. Being the cheapest model I could get, I had no power windows. And I felt the sound system was missing some of the more exquisite features that could be found on more expensive cars. Though it sounded great. Also, in the past few years, some of the paint has been showing discoloration, probably from being kept outside for most of its life. Overall, the Accent has served me wonderfully for the many years that I've had it. I'd probably buy another Accent, the new current year sometime soon, as 2003 is quite the old model. I hope everyone in the world one day is able to experience enjoying a car the way I enjoyed my Accent.

Underwhelming
I bought the car for two reasons: The claimed MPG and the price. I live more than forty miles from work, and I needed a car with better gas mileage than my Jeep Wrangler. I knew I would be driving the car almost exclusively for work, so gas mileage was a big selling point. I also did not want to break the bank, so this car seemed like a good fit. Outside of the gas mileage, the car is pretty nice. The interior is simple but clean, has the features I need without feeling like a cheap car.

It was okay. They were very friendly, but I could feel they were trying to screw us because we are women.
