This car is very light and NOT for cross country driving. Even highway driving is an issue with a speed of 50 mph and the wind is blowing. With blowing winds, highway driving, and a speed of 50 mph or greater, than the end results is the car bouncing from left to right. I have to move over to the slow lane and slow down, in order to stop the car from bouncing and sliding from right to left. This can be very dangerous, especially for a teenager or college student who is new to driving. I took this car back to the dealership and was told that this is normal for most compact and sub-compact cars (Ford, Toyota, Nissan, etc.). So, I am stuck with this, but I do not do a lot of highway driving, anyway. No spare tire.
Story
People says, "Is that a Kia?" Nice car. I had a negative option of Kia's in the beginning, but I am saving my money for a Mazda sedan in a few years. I will give this car to my teenage great-nephew who loves this car and wants it now. I have given him driving lessons in this car and he feels very comfortable in it.
Pros
The Kia Forte LX is easy to handle and has a nice adjustable steering wheel and adjustable seat that you can push up, down. Good for short people with short legs. The car heats up immediately, defrosts quickly, back-seats can lay flat. CD player, sunroof (option in), rear view camera, trunk is big enough for 3 people's luggage (7 pieces), 8 cup holders, big tray for keys, money, etc. and covering case, etc. And the usual for most new cars.
Cons
Lots of shaking from the right to the left lane when driving 50 mph or greater. This is very scary. Limited colors to choose from.

The 2012 Kia Forte LX has been super reliable for our family. The only time we ever had to take this car to the auto shop in the last two years that we have owned it was when we got ran off the road by a careless driver in the middle of the night and damaged the bumper on the shoulder. We have never had any kind of maintenance issues with this car. We have kept the oil changed and the tires rotated and everything has worked perfectly.
Pros
This car fits the whole family comfortably. Three kids can sit in the back seat without a problem (even if one of them is in a car seat). The seats are really comfortable and everything important is within reach of the driver's seat and easy to locate. This car maneuvers with ease, is easy to handle and very responsive. The USB Plug has gotten so much use in our car. It is always nice to be able to plug in a phone on a long road trip, especially if you use it for GPS like we do. The blue tooth capability for hands free calling is a great feature. I cannot believe that they still make cars ... (more)
Cons
The color is not as exciting as some of the options for earlier makes and models of Kias. I still miss the electric blue color of my first car the 2005 Kia Rio. That is really my only complaint, though.
