I really like my Kia Optima. I think it's one of the best cars I have owned. For the mid-range price, you get a luxury vehicle. While the exterior isn't all that nice, it's very spacious and premium on the inside.
Story
Driving along the coast of California, from Los Angeles to Sacramento with my significant other.
Pros
Interior looks premium. Great gas mileage when driving on the freeway. I average about ~45 mpg driving on the freeway. Very sturdy build, built like a tank. There is a built-in "fridge" in the glove box. This comes in handy on summer days. Price was inexpensive, especially for a roomy car. It drives very well and is super comfortable. Enough cup holders for myself and passengers. Enough room to have three people in the back with enough leg space.
Cons
Slow acceleration. This is bad when trying to merge on the freeway. Ugly exterior of the trunk. Little trunk space due to the battery. Doesn't handle turns as well as other cars of the size. The stock tires that it came in are already worn out after 16,000 miles. City mileage is horrible. I average only 20 mpg. There is no spare tire that came with the car, only a tire patching device. The backseat does not fold down. I understand that it's due to the battery, but it would still be nice if the seats folded down. Sometimes I transport long items and cannot bring them home with my car.

Having owned previous Kia models in the past, the Optima hybrid is on a different level than the lower tier Kias. The quality of the interior is great. Hand-stitched leather wrapped steering wheel is one touch I enjoyed. This is one of the quietest vehicles I have ever owned. It is nice, but in parking lots or just driving down the street, I ÒsurprisedÓ numerous kids, animals and adults alike. The range that you can travel in this car on one tank of gas is astounding. I drove from Houston, TX, to Tulsa, OK, with out ÒneedingÓ to get gas. I would refuel if I stopped for other reasons, but I never had to. I had about 1/4 tank of gas when I got where I was going.
Story
I would take my hybrid to the beach in Galveston with my French Bulldog Ace, and we had a blast. He loved to go for a ride anytime in that car.
Pros
Push-button start. Hybrid technology. Side curtain airbags. Lots of room. More power than most hybrids. Distance to empty calculator was spot on.
Cons
Heavy. Hybrid battery under the back seat. ItÕs too quiet.
