The fuel economy of the Saturn Ion is exceptional. With a 12 gallon tank, at around 30 miles to the gallon, I only fill up twice a month. There are some things about the Ion that are different than other cars that take some getting used to, such as the speedometer being in the middle of the dash instead of in front of the steering wheel. All in all it is a good little car that looks up to date and stylish years later.
Story
I drive it to work everyday.
Pros
The back seats fold down so large items can be transported. There is a light in the trunk so shopping at night isn't an issue. The gas mileage is fantastic. The car isn't too big to fit into small spots and is not too small for traveling. For a 4 cylinder vehicle this car will get it an go when you need to whip into traffic or pass.
Cons
The tires have always worn out super fast on this car no matter how many times you have the front end aligned. The ignition has been recalled and fixed and still won't release the key when you stop. This seems to be a common problem with the car. You have to pop off a little cover under the steering column to access the release button to get the key out every time. The seating is not luxury class at all and is not comfortable on drives longer than about four hours. The trim around the windows has warped from the sun.

2006 Saturn Ion - The 2006 Saturn is a great, long vehicle.

I bought my 2006 Saturn Ion new, and I'm still driving it. I have owned it longer than I have owned any other vehicle in the past. It is a pleasure to drive.
Story
We have driven this vehicle locally and across state. The most memorable thing happened recently driving around our neighborhood. I noticed we were at 199,999 miles, and I got to watch the odometer roll over to 200,000. This was exciting to me, because I never thought I would keep a vehicle this long.
Pros
The Saturn Ion is an attractive, fuel efficient car that has been fun to drive. I purchased my Saturn new in 2006, and I'm still driving it. I've had this vehicle longer than any other vehicle I've owned in the past. It has a huge trunk, and it's surprising how much you can carry in a mid-size sedan.
Cons
While the front seat area is quite comfortable, I find the back seat not very roomy, especially if you have a taller person in front, leaving less leg room for the back seat passenger. The back seat is better suited for children, pets, and smaller adults. I am also sorry they no longer make this vehicle.

I went to the dealership looking for an inexpensive vehicle I could abuse. I quickly found the one I ended up purchasing and got it at a price that was more than fair. The car turned out better than expected, the sales people were extremely nice and efficient and I was in and out very quickly.
