We purchased the Subaru Forester used from a local dealership. It was in great condition, no rust, low mileage and clean. After owning the car for a few years small issues began to pile up into large problems. The gas mileage has been great. I have a long daily commute and the costs have been low. Unfortunately, the engine has been burning oil. As a result I have to take it in for more frequent oil changes and that cuts into the gas savings. The rear hatch has been great for transporting. The downside is that the lock mechanism in the hatch has broke 3 times in the past 3 years. It's expensive to replace and requires a lot of the interior trim be removed. The heat shield on the engine comes loose very frequently. I find myself tightening it very often and if I don't it makes a loud ... (more)
Story
My wife and I have driven this car multiple times to a distant campsite that involves dirt road driving. After a bad storm the roads were washed out but we were able to drive the Subaru around or through most of the large and deep puddles without issue.
Pros
Lots of room for hauling and transporting. The engine has stayed in working condition after a lot of extra driving. The interior is spacious.
Cons
The engine burns oil at an alarming rate. The rear hatch has malfunctioned multiple times.

My Subaru Forester was the perfect car I was looking for in my price range. I paid around $6,000 for the vehicle, and there are many things I like and dislike about the car. It is a major upgrade from the Ford Taurus I was driving before, and the car gets me from point A to point B with ease.
Story
I've only had the car for about a month, but there will be memories to come this summer. My best memory, so far, is passing someone on the highway with ease.
Pros
Some pros I like about this car are the gas mileage, the style of the car, and the reliability. The gas mileage for the car is great, as it gets around 25 miles per gallon, which is an upgrade from my old car. I love the style of the car, more specifically the size and shape. The car is not too big, yet it sits high enough off the ground for me. Finally, I love the reliability of this car. Most Subarus are extremely reliable, and this is no different. I bought the car with over 100,000 miles on it, and honestly, I believe it can last another 100,000 miles.
Cons
The features and the popularity. It would have been nice for the car to include a bit more features, like Bluetooth radio or radio controls on the steering wheel. Another con that's not so important is how many people have this car. It really isn't something people haven't seen before.
