The Toyota Land Cruiser is an iconic utility vehicle that was designed to last for 25 or more years and over 300,000 miles in harsh environments, making it more than suitable for anything from daily road driving, overland adventures and jungle or desert expeditions. It is well engineered with modern luxury appointments for the demanding customer as well as including GPS navigation, Bluetooth and rear DVD entertainment center.
Story
One memorable occasion was when my wife was driving and had to come to a sudden stop in traffic, she was rear ended by a small sedan with both of our children in the vehicle. The Land Cruiser is built so solidly our kids didn't even wake up from their nap while the other driver's car was totaled.
Pros
The most attractive feature of the Land Cruiser is the engineering that has gone into the mechanical systems. The 4.7L engine is market tested and recently one was turned in to Toyota for inspection with over 1,000,000 miles on the odometer. In 2006, the Land Cruiser was equipped with an adjustable height suspension that raises and lowers the vehicle to assist in either easier exiting, fuel efficiency at highway speeds, or traversing off road terrain.
Cons
The only complaint I have about the vehicle is the outdated navigation system integrates the HVAC controls, which makes it impossible to upgrade to modern technology.
