The Jetta I purchased new way back in 1985. It was a gold 4 door Jetta with cloth bucket seats in the front, Automatic with power windows and a sun roof. The sun roof was opened and closed with a crank. Air Conditioning was also included. It was not a diesel and it took regular gas. The styling of the car was what attracted me to purchase it. It had those rectangular headlights! It was fun to drive, a little underpowered but the handling was superb. It was stiff and responsive which I liked. I called it my poor man's BMW.

Probably great when new.
I loved my car the first time I saw it. I bought it on EBay, and when the listing was taken down I was sad that I hadn't bought it, and that's how I knew it was the car I should buy. I have had it for about 10 years. I really like the cup holders, which come out of the center console with a push-button. I really like the interior lights as well because they are red and blue instead of normal light colors. I love the seat-warmer, and have it on all winter. I really like how my car will go when I tell it to and that's making buying a new car difficult. Most cars when you put your foot on the gas it takes time to really get up to speed, but mine is immediate and it's great. However my car is also old now and isn't always as reliable as it should be. I've had issues for years with various parts of the cooling system leaking. I've replaced all spark plugs and wires. An O2 sensor was bad that took me taking off the whole front end of my car to get to in order to replace. It's like the car was designed in order to be difficult to work on so people have to take it to the dealership to fix. My A/C system has broken several times, my heater has also broken (leading to me always using my seat warmer). Several small odds and ends have broken/fallen off, such as my center console lid, shifter cover, any fake/glued on wood. My rear-view mirror has also fallen off, and my window gear broke leading me to not be able to use my window for about 8 months.
