We got the 2500 because we'd just gotten a 38' 5th-wheel camper, and my 1500 wasn't going to cut it anymore. There is plenty of towing power; I've gone through the Great Smokey Mountains three times pulling the camper, with nary a problem. The HD towing package surprised me the first time I was in the mountains by engine braking on a steep decline. Guess I should have read the manual first!
