I would say that the vehicle has performed about as expected for a used vehicle. It has had some problems notable with the wheel bearings and seems to burn a bit of oil, but other than that, it has been a solid car for its age. Mine has about 180,000 miles, and it feels like it's about time for it to be retired, so that's less than you'd really want out of a car but still it's been good for what it is.
Story
The most memorable is in driving through the snow as I mentioned above before. It was 13 hours because of an accident on a remote highway road away from cities, so it took a long time to get the road cleared. While waiting, I invited some people into my car and played Pokémon with them since they had to conserve fuel and couldn't keep their cars heated.
Pros
One of the best pros is the traction. I've had to drive it in a foot of snow, and it handled that like a champ. I had to drive for 13 straight hours in the snow, and there was barely any loss of traction while all around me I saw dozens of cars crashed onto the side of the road. Also related to that was the heater that kept me incredibly warm in weather that would dip into the negatives in Fahrenheit.
Cons
The biggest con is the wheel bearings. They're shot. This isn't something I should have to deal with when getting a used car. It's been quoted as incredibly expensive to fix and difficult to do on my own due to the complications related to the make of the vehicle. It has a very load growling because of this and is the main reason I wouldn't recommend it if I was going to.

This vehicle has been reliable and has required no more repairs than I would have expected. Its ride is extraordinarily smooth, which I noticed immediately after previously driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited for several years. I had no complaints with the Jeep's ride, but still, the Lexus is much better. I bought this vehicle because I wanted a high-quality ride that would last if well-maintained. The Lexus RX 300 has delivered.
Story
I picked up a friend at the airport on a very cold night, and it was really fun to ask if she wanted her seat warmers on. Of course, she did. Just a little extra comfort.
Pros
I have always appreciated the options for seat adjustment but none more than the lumbar support, which most of the vehicles I tested did not have. I also have really enjoyed the seat warmers and the ease of operation of the climate controls.
Cons
The most serious issue that I've noticed is that it would probably be fairly easy to shift the drive controls into another gear with just an inadvertent bump. This is not much of a problem for me, but if I regularly had kids in the car, I would have to emphasize to them to be very careful not to hit the gearshift. In fact, I think I might point that out to an adult as well. I think this issue may have been corrected with later models. Another con: The CD access is in the glove box and requires complex facing and loading into a cartridge. It's very impractical and drivers who want to chang... (more)
