2002 Mercedes-Benz C-Class - Engine solid but interior failing
The car feels like a tank. Very heavy to drive around but very solid and feels safe for a family car. Gas mileage is low as you would expect from a heavy car like this. Car has been used for low mileage (only 104,000 miles on a 2002 model). The interior has not held up as well as the engine. Various parts of the trim and plastics have been breaking or falling off over the last several years. Very disappointing, even for a entry level luxury model.
Story
Driving down to the beach with the family in the back. We had the baby seat and two adults in the back and another two adults in the front. Tight fit for everyone but had a great day out.
Pros
Feels very safe to drive around. Plenty of room for child seats in the back but angled seats make using the LATCH connections tricky.
Cons
Interior has not held up well with age. Leather armrest had to be replaced within a few years due to discoloration. Lately the trunk latch, door handle, glove compartment handle, and cup holder have all broken or snapped.
