Fun, sporty, overall okay vehicle! I love the compact size. It's great for someone like me who doesn't like to drive big vehicles. Fairly reliable, not so much on longer road trips. A lot of power in a little machine! BMW quality but not anything near some of the older vehicles I've driven. Definitely lots of kinks that needed to be worked out of this model.
Story
I don't know about fun but definitely memorable, I was 15 hours from home -- in Denver, CO at the time. My check engine light was on, and my car kept stalling at idle. I headed to my local AutoZone and swapped out my spark plugs and a coil pack using their rentable tools and headed on my way back home! Check engine light went away and no more stalling since!
Pros
I love the size of the vehicle -- not big but also not a small, clown car. A lot of power is packed into such a small vehicle -- making for a fun drive. Fairly easy to maintain. Good base sound system and nice interior. I like the paddle shifting option -- nice for driving in places with ever-changing altitude. The backseat laid down was just big enough for me to create a small bed for road trips.
Cons
I don't like that the base model doesn't come with cruise control. My '94 BMW 3 series did, so it felt odd to downgrade a bit. The direct injection engine is great but makes for the potential of carbon buildup in the intake valves, which can cause a multitude of issues. The car also burns a good amount of oil through regular use. I often have to add a quart even after easy driving.

2013 MINI Cooper - Fun toy and surprisingly practical.

Super fun car to drive and bee seen in. Every one notices it. We've all seen MINIs but not a two-seat soft top. I've driven it around Europe while we were stationed in Italy and now around LA while we're stationed in California. I've seen four others in the wild... I can't say that about many cars.
Story
We picked ours up in Italy. Still managed 25 MPG at 125 MPG on the Autobahn. You would be amazed at how effective the wind fence behind the seats is, even over 100.
Pros
Solid build and ride, since it's a BMW underneath. The seats and controls are well positioned, and it drives like a sports car in spite of the front-wheel drive. Interior is plastic but very well done. Leather option makes a big difference. Very roomy trunk, especially for a MINI. Power top (standard from 2013 model on) is fun to show off.
Cons
Was only available for a few years and many were custom ordered so the selection and styles are slim. Not maintenance friendly... like any MINI, it's tight under the hood, and you really should go to the dealer for maintenance. Demands pricey run flats... every 35K miles up front and every 45K miles in the back in my experience. You don't rotate tires on a MINI. While we got a Cooper S, the sport package we did a test ride in was terrible... I felt every bump, pebble and amoeba we rolled over.

It is the closest Mini dealership to my house. They had a great variety of cars and the prices were competitive. I had some issues with my credit but the financing department in the dealership did a great job helping me solve my problem.
